clean IAT

ok, I tried it, I have a little over 50K milles and have never touched the IAT. I did have a K&N for a while though. pulled it this am, clean except a little residue, probably from the K&N. If you don't have an ex-brake, then I would not bother touching it! One thing though, running the K&N will ensure that you never have any internal rust on any of the intake parts!!!!!! LOL:--)

Well after 4 years of towing my 5'er all over the USA and Canada, I have never seen my mileage over 10 MPG. I mean never, in fact since my 275 install the mileage yesterday cruising at 65 MPH, I got about 8. 8 MPG.

If I ever got 12 I'd be shocked. Empty the truck averages about 17-18 MPG.

Check IAS all of the time, since I run an E brake, usually filthy with black heavy oily crud.

I gotta try this on my father in laws 2k CTD. He barely gets 11mpg pulling a 24' lite TT. He doesn't have an e-brake though. Sounds like a dirty IAT might do what gasser do when all the sensors don't go into "closed loop". They stay in the cold enrichment mode. Craig

Changed mine Friday

I did not clean mine I just put in a new one then went on a small trip, for about 260 some miles. Both highway and byway, miliage went from best of 15. 6 to 18. 1 MPG but this is on one tank. So far so good.

I just did mine. 126k miles, it was nasty black with oily crud on it. I just had a record bad mileage of 7mpg (pulling 21k pounds) hopefully this will help. I also had a dirty air filter.

Power and fuel mileage can vary from tank to tank. A 10,000 mile trip from Alaska to Missouri and back had some tanks giving 2mpg or more difference under the same road conditions!! You really notice the difference when the stations go to #1 diesel here in the winter, the power really falls off.
