25+ MPG with my 2003 Ram

I have 88k on my '03. I bought a fiberglass cover and raised the milage a bit(21 -21 1/2), but running the BullyDog power pup in tow mode and open the stock air box (with a Airaid filter) I can get between 24-25mpg's. The roads i travel are through Virginia into Martinsburg WV. I am able to do this at 60-65mph.

WOW! What gear ratio do you have? What transmission? I have the Bully Dog "triple dog" on my '03. Although it has not helped my fuel economy, it has not hurt it either.

Have you figured your milage with a calculator or is this what is comming off of the monitor in the pickup? I tried a bullydog in my 06 with about 40k and a bullydog air system and it didn't help my milage at all... the monitor showed 22-23 going 78-80 mph but barely pulled 15 with it when i put the pencil to it!

I usually got just over 20 with my '03 rolling at 70-73 mph. I had all the advantages though- shortbed 2-wheel drive with 6-speed transmission and 3. 73 gears. If I bumped it up to 80 it would drop to 19-19. 5.

some of these 305/555 '03/'04 engines are gettin' some great mpgs out on the road. My truck is stock and at 55-60 mph on secondary state roads my truck has pulled 23. 7 with a next tank back up at 23. 2 from Tulsa to Fort Campbell ,KY. All pencil figures. Some say adding a box increases ther mpgs so 25 is very possible with these engines. My 600 mile a week commute will average 22+ and that is running the turnpike at legal 75 mph at times mixed with 55 mph on the old mother road [Route 66]. My overhead dic is always less mpgs that pencil figures.

Mine never has gotten more then 18 on the open road at legal speed limits. Just went to Oklahoma end of last week hoping new turbo would help mileage, had a bunch of wind to put up with but still only came out to 17. 4 MPG. Have to go again next week, hopefully weather will not be an issue.

I travel roughly 310 miles a day, I have a 2003 2500 4x4, 3. 73 rear and a 4 speed auto. I have opened the air box and installed a 6" intake pipe just below the bumper up to the bottom of my stock air box. I have the stock injectors. I do get lower numbers at 45-50, but traveling at or around 65 it picks up. I don't use the over head only for temp. This wasn’t a scientific experiment, just thought that this would be of some interest to some of you Diesel owners. (I was told this would spark a few questions). I continue to fiddle with ways to make it run better. Oh the roads I travel are through Virginia & Martinsburg <ST1West Virginia</ST1 (Flat and not too much of “Down hill runs”#ad

I have a friend who has either an 02 or 03 auto and he also says he gets 24 to 25 mpg on a daily basis. His truck is bone stock

The best way to increase your fuel mileage is to lie about it, that's what my brother-in-law does. He get's 17 mpg on a Furd gasser pulling his 29' 5th wheel, so he says.

are you figuring that with a calculator or the overhead cumputer,cause as soon as you put a chip on these trucks it screws the computer up,the best I seen with my 03 is 18. 1,you must have a rare truck is all I know

The best mileage I got going to Alaska with the Lance camper, 11,000 miles round trip, was 14. 5 mpg. We never went over 60 mph.

sounds like a typical PSD owner answer over on the RV.net when the Dodge/Cummins crowd show our mpgs. Some of them brag about 15-16 out on the road.

My truck gets between 19-20 mpg on a regular basis. Driving through Yellowstone late last year, I got 22 on two tanks (this has only happened 1 other time). Usually drove around 50 mph. 25 mpg seems high, but possible.
