GM - severe penalty for MODS.....

Explain why friends of mine with no mods at all who drive like little old ladies are only getting 16-18 mpg tops.

Quite often, when guys are complaining about poor MPG, you look at their sigs and see the magic words "4x4". Yeah, a relatively FEW guys with 4x4's get decent MPG - but I'd bet most DON'T! ;)

At least as compared to a 2WD truck... :D

These are 2 wheel drives! Me, I'm liking my 18 mpg with absurd power! The other vehicles I had with anywhere near this much power got single digits max!

I just made a trip to Montana and back to PA with the Smarty set on three and towing a 7x14 two axle loaded with some furniture and our luggage low profile trailer, four people in the truck running 75 mph through most of the states west of here, my overhead said 18. 5 but my hand calc was 15. 6. Running at home empty I get 16 mpg consistantly around the backroads and 21 mpg on the highway at 65mph. Iam running 185x17 with 3:73 gears and auto transmission, I just turned 26,000 miles on the truck. My 04' didn't get good fuel milage untill it broke 28,000 miles and it was at 21 mpg highway.

A guy at a rest stop in Indiana pulling a flatbead gooseneck with an 06' Ferd was telling me he was getting 24 mpg empty and 18 pullin the trailer, I figured he was just trying to impress me!!!

The original poster of this thread that is getting "25mpg+" has a 4x4.

YUP - and I also think he eventually discovered some of his fellow workers were playing a trick on him and adding extra fuel to his tank to make him THINK he was getting great MPG - you musta missed THIS post:

We have friends then we have friends with a sense of humor. For about a month my good friend was dumping extra fuel into my truck everyday I showed up to work. Hard to figure out when but that is where my 25 mpg was coming from. I did the math (not console) and I am averaging 22. 5-23 with the Bully Dog programmed for the Tow mode and cruising at 55-60 and if I program the unit in the Performance mode I get better mileage at 70 but the mpgs drop to 19-19. 5.
