What is the major differance from the 250 hp to the 305? is it possible to bring a 250 up to 305 spec's? IE: injecters? ECM? turbo? or must it be done with boxes? (Ez, bully, quad?) just Trying to figure out some alternatives for customers.

Thanks for any Help

Scott @RDP

That's easy as far as boosting it up w/aftermarket bolt on's. Bomb it w/either of the new box's,cold air intake eg:afe pro guard 7,and last but not least 4" exhaust. With that it will be over the equivalent of the 305/555 a stock one that is. DAVE...

The 250 vs 305 use different pumps. The '03 trucks have common rail injection with electronic injectors. You'll have to use aftermarket parts to bump up your 250.

I have a Customer with an 03 NON ho 250 ISBE( must be a CA. truck) that wants to go to HO specs with out using after market parts. so theres no way short of a box to do it? ( pump change? inj. Change? ) he's VERY insistant about Useing stock parts.

TIA, Scott

I didn't realize you were talking an '03. I had an '01. 5 HO that was 250 hp. Not sure what the new ones have on the HO that differ from the SO. Sorry.

I believe the pistons are different in the HO's also (oil cooling passages in the underside of the pistons on the HO's)

That quote from the Cummins page is from 2001. The 2003 HO and SO use the same short block with just ECM differences. The Edge EZ on Level 3 will turn the SO into HO numbers (I dyno'd that setup) with great driveability.

Oops,

Sorry, now that you mention it, I think I've heard that before.

You could be right - I'm definitely a loooooong way from being an authority on the subject. However, the FAQ questions appear to be in chronological order. If that is the case, then this should be the one for the 2001 model engines.

Again, not trying to be a smarta$$, just trying to add to the discussion.

I check and you are correct, that is a quote for the new HO (305hp)... the programs are the main difference, hence why stock HO's get hot egts, but most SO stock will never even see 1100 degrees (mine didn't even bogging it with 10k in tow)
