Interesting, I see two things here. Scott and I listed the rating straight from our 97/98 manuals. These differ based on engine and gears. This should answer Jim's original question since his is a 97.
I also see a discussion about getting the higher rating by sending in the letter. Because newer trucks are marked wrong. Does this only apply to newer trucks, or can I get one of those for my 97 as well?
Are the newer trucks rated 20,000 for the autos and 3. 54 gears because of higher HP and beefed up trannys? Or has DC made suspension and brake improvements as well?
