The other day I loaded my truck down real good see sig. I was pulling my trailer that has about 700#'s of ball weight and had at least another 1000#s of debris in the bed. This should be at or over the limit for my truck including my toolbox and other stuff in my truck. my point is that my overload springs where barely touching the rubber stops. I am not complaing how my truck handles loads it handles them almost as well as a dually, and the ride is better than a cad with this much weight but seems weird they would make these trucks so the springs just start working when you have exceeded the max weight for your truck.

I know what you mean. Right after I bought my truck I had a pallet of 5 gallon bottles of water (2400 lbs. ) in the bed of my truck and there was still room between the overloads and the main spring pack. These trucks will pull a mountain, it's the getting it stopped that I think limits the weight.

They ride real nice with a couple thousand pounds in the bed.

I had a skid mounted Ingersoll-Rand 175 cfm air compressor in mine. smoothed that puppy right out.

with my new toyhauler 5er empty, about 1500# on the pin, the rear overload is just touching and the front had a hair of clearance. The truck reacts with a sharp jolt when it hits bumps loaded like this. Once I loaded up the 5er, about 2000# on the pin, both overload springs are touching and the truck rides much smoother - just enough additional weight to smooth out the overloads.
