Hello all, according to the TDR mag and the service manual, the early 2001 2500 should have 2. 5 x 13 rear drums. I pulled mine this weekend to clean out some of the dust and adjust, and I found 3. 5 x 13. I was wondering if this is a common finding? I had also went to the parts store and had themn look up the shoes, andthey came back with 2. 5". Did DC change the specs? I also have the Dana 70 rear, too bad i didn't get the 80

Been lurking awhile, first post. I have a 2000 reg cab 5 speed, and I have a Dana 80 with the 3. 5 inch rear brakes. Until now, my truck was the only 2500 I had heard of with 3. 5" brakes

DC changed the brake design in 2000. This includes the larger rear pads. Are you sure you dont have the 80?The 2500s use a hybrid rearend meaning the 80 pumpkin with 70 axles tubes.

I think it's a typo. I've been using Dodge 4x4 trucks for over 15 years now and I have never seen shoes as small as 2. 5" Every second gen dodge we've used at work since Dodge got the State Bid has had 3. 5" brakes. I would think that any engineer worth his degree would never put 2. 5" brakes on anything as big as a Ram.

upon further investigation, I remeasured the drum and it comes out to be 3. 5 x 12. 125. The service manual had an addendum stating this size. As far as being a hybrid 80, I'm not sure. the tag on the pumpkin states it's a 70, but the cover does not look like the ones depicted for a 70. Well, a mag-hytec is in the near future, so i'll know for sure then. HMM, while I'm in there, maybe a NO_SLIP locker should go in.

THese pesky BOMBing bugs are taking over...
