Can you take a 3500 rear suspension and bolt up on a 2500? If so what are the changes in doing so? I don't mind the stiffer ride just need more load capacity.

i added air bags for overload to my 2500. the adjustability is great, (slightly) better ride when empty, and i can level the back end when it's loaded at any weight.

i've been contemplating changing to a dually setup myself, as i think the tires/wheels are the major limiting factor in the load carrying ability.

either way i think you are stuck with the factory weight ratings as far liability and Highway Patrol are concerned...

The only difference is an upper overload spring in the rear and nothing in the front. How much do you need to haul sonyman? I have had at least 20 k behind my truck and that is with custom racing springs. Your stock springs should be fine for that.

stiffer rear

My 5ver has a hitch weight of 3075 lbs. and it seems to squat the rear somewhat. The ride is fine and no sway to note but it just doesn't look good to me. I don't want to change to a dually setting... . only single rear wheel, just more springs.

thanks... are the frame mountings the same on the 2500 and 3500. Do you have and pics or this spring actuator and overload to show the differences

Thanks

I don't have a picture handy, and I cut the actuators off my rig. It used to be a DRW and now it is a Desert Prerunner. I do have all of the stock springs but the actuators are not in the junk pile. Must have gotten tossed out?

2500 to 3500 suspension?

Your rear load capacity will be limited by the tires, ie. ,3195# per tire = 6390# total maxed out load on rear axel!!!

:--) Oo.
