I said that my new 3500 C&C with steel flatbed rides better than my Air bag beefed up 2006 Ford F-250!! I was not comparing it to a new 2500, with or without air ride..

Secondly I have the suspicion that the 3500 commercial insurance rules and rates may vary from state to state as well as company to company. Time to do some shopping??

Sounds like a call to the insurance company. My issues would be solved with the aisin offered in the 2500 but I am probably not alone.

We have one State Farm agent in the area who does a lot of work for the farmers and contractors in our area and is well versed in commercial coverage. Most of the others just give you that "dumb look" when you ask them commercial questions. Since your profile does not give your location all I can say is stop by some of your local contractors, and/or farmers if you have any in your area, and ask them who they are using to cover their 3500 and up sized vehicles.

Comifornia insurance not only triples your premium, but then your registration costs a couple of hundred more every year in weight fees.

I will not say anything about the cost of living in the land of "fruits and nuts"!!! Acutally New York, and some of the other Northeast states, are just as bad!! In SC we have a yearly property tax on vehicles, my new 3500 will be about $5-600 new and then drops each year as it declines in value. My 92 Caddy is only $28.00.. Since we have to register our trucks for the gross weight including trailer mine would cost about $250-300/yr for 25,000#, But I qualify for Farm plates and is only $12.00/yr. And with SC farm and a mfgr build/shipping weight under 7500# we can use them for "general and ordinary" purposes.. Took my F-250 to Fairbanks Alaska and back on farm plates!!

I like your flat bed for pulling a 5th wheel. Here is mine, more of a work truck.

Nice truck, your bed looks like a quality build. Please let us know how your 3:73 and Aisin Trans pulls with your goose neck, when fully loaded. With 55MPH speed limit in Comifornia for "Auto with Trailers" and my G56 with 3:73, it's a constant up/down shift through rolling hills because of bogging the CTD in 6th, and high RPM in 5th, when pulling the setup posted earlier at 23K GCW.

This is just how it was set up on the dealers lot.. It is a Bradford body and RDS tank & storage box. The Dodge dealer is also a dealer for both.. Good heavy diamond plate steel, but not enough tie downs, although the lower edge is strong enough if I use the 2 inch wide U shaped hooks. If I had custom built a truck I would have body shopped more.

My only long tow was a little over 1000 mile from Greenville SC to Winchester VA and back up I-85, I-77, and I-81. This is a continuesly hilly version of I-10 between LA and Phoenix with none of the flats or long gentle grades, with a 65 and 70 MPH speed limit. Ran most of it with the cruise set on 68 and it stayed in 6th OK and dropped to 5th on the steeper hills. Got right on 11 MPG. Locally on the 2 and 4 lanes with a 55 MPH speed limit If I set my cruise on 58-59 it will shift back and forth on the slightest grade, but not quite as bad with the foot feed, so I lock it down in 5th.

Here is the trailer I pull, not hooked, just backed under for the picture!!

Brocky, that is a fine Diamond T. Don't see too many of them anymore. My employer restored one of their original delivery trucks and trailer to use in local parades and events.

VERY NICE!! Do they take it to any shows?? The next ATHS National show is in Salem Ore at the end of May, 2016 BUT there are several events locally in your SB Valley area.
Keep an eye on the aths.org events page, although it might be Feb/Mar before they are all listed.

All the window sticker says is 6.7 Cummins.. no ratings?? where would I find more info?? If anything I would think the C&C would have the fullest HP rating as they would be expected to do the most work?? Mt neighbor has a 5500 pulling a 40 ft Wilson tri-axle bull rack and is very happy with it..
