Am I correct in assuming the only real difference between the 2500 & 3500 (I am referring to SRW models and not a Dually) is an extra set of leaf springs on the rear end and the clearance lights? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

Yup as far as I can see you are right. I have a 2500 and my Dad has a 3500. He has cab lights and overload springs. Put on timbrens instead of overloads or air bags to get better ride and load carrying capacity out of a 2500. They take a whole ten minutes to install and are cheaper than air bags.

The axle shafts are supposed to be thicker in the 3500. Those shafts also included in the 2500 POWER WAGON due to the lockers. At least this is what I was told from an Engineer at work.

There is an active thread on the same subject called, "New Truck! 2500 vs. 3500".

The cab lights are no longer standard with a 3500 SRW, they are with a DRW however.

Another difference between the two is the tag on the door jamb with the higher load capacity on a 3500, which could be very important in case you are involved in a unforseen mishap with a heavy load, such as a cab-over-camper. State troopers and insurance company's look at such information to determine fault. Add on air bags are not taken in account.
