265-70R17 on a Dually

Is anyone running 265-70R17's on there dually? I have a set of 6 Cooper STT LT265-70R17's that are E-Rated and really look great. I'd like some feedback before I try mounting these.



Yes, I know the rims are 6". Running Spacers?

I have the 3500 single axle with the Cooper SST same size as yours. They are a great tire, Mine are Studded also. I believe the ride is better than the BFGs Good luck

The rims are too narrow. Most tire shops won't mount up that size on a 6" rim.



Spacers or not, the issue is the rims.

I ran a thread awhile back about running 245s on the G3 dually and the answer came back it was a go. When I did a search looking into it there are some folks running 265 plus with spacers but it isn't the best idea - imho.



Anyway, I found a great set of Cooper STs 235s 80 17s and wheels in the classifieds and they have been excellent tires. Swap them

The other issue is minimum dual rear wheel spacing / offset.

The ONLY issue is spacing, tread face deflection due to narrow rims is very minimal on the test fit tire, the rims aren't too narrow. Yes, I know the rims are 6".



The question is to anyone who is running 265's, what space did they end up with, and are they running spacers? Looks like I'll have . 9" between them.



Did I mention the rims are 6" wide???

I am running 265/70/17's all the way around on my '03 dually without spacers. They are factory take offs from the Dodge single axle 4x4s, BFG long trail or something like that. I would say easily that there is 1 inch of clearance between the two rears empty. I pull 16,000# and they do not touch even when loaded. I have no problems with them.

That's what I wanted to hear. Remounting six wheels is a pain in the *****, much less just changing just one. I wanted to know if what I thought is what will be.

I too have been running 265/70/17's on my '03 dually. I too have no issues of even getting close to rubbing on the duals. I got 100,000 miles out of Michelins and just put on another set . Love the ride and durability.

I'm running 65 psi. all the way around.

I change my stock tires to 65 all around and going down the road at highway speeds noticed the back end sway a little like it is loose, i believe this is do to ride on the ball of the tire?????
