Have a 97 2500 w/auto, stock except for the 230HP TST kit slid forward just slightly. On a dyno last month, in lock up drive, it put out 279 HP & 646 torque, at the wheels, on a floor dyno. With 135,000 miles on it now, will I benifit from bigger injectors?

Would I have anything to gain by putting 275 HP injectors in at this time? At 135,000 the originals have never been removed, so far no reason to. What happens to milage if I upgrade? How much would they cost? Is there a core value for the ones I have? If I'm geting over 300 hp at the flywheel now, what will the bigger injectors do? The drive train is still like new, & in stock condition, but I baby it when I need to. I like a little extra power when I need it, but I use it carefully, & don't deliberately abuse it. I know there have been a lot of posts about the 275's, but never thought I might be able to use them until the dyno test. Any Ideas?

I would call and talk to Piers at PDR 604-853-9396. www.piersdiesel.com

I think 275 injectors are for the 24v engines. I think your choices will come down to adding 215 injectors or the proper 370 injectors. I think there are 300 injectors in there also.

Anyways choose from the 215's or the 370's depending on the power level you want, and the smoke/egt levels you are comfortable with.

I have the same setup as you right now. Going for Injectors, PDR turbo, and Gov. Spring kit the end of this month. And anything else the budget will allow.

From what I understand the bigger injectors allow more fuel to be squirted in sooner and faster. The fuel plate is controlling the overall fuel curve, etc. The injectors allow quicker and more fuel at a given point on that curve. -- Well guys how did I do??

So this will give an overall power increase, across the entire power band. Also helps in the low end and launch off the line.

dennis,

How have you been?

I just installed my 370 a month ago i have about the same setup as you. i got the 230hp plate. the 370s made a big notice in power, smoke, and the egt climb faster but are very controlable.

I plan on getting some delivery valves here in a couple of weeks and will be telling people in the KC area, so that we can get together again. I thought that i would install my delivery valves and others could do some minor mods as well. just an excuse to get together.

Piers is the man on the fueling stuff

give me an e-mail on any other questions u have.

Dennis I am not doubting you but the horsepower numbers with just the 230 cam plate are:eek: extremely high. I have the 230 injectors and the 275 cam plate moved way forward and those are close to my numbers. ;)

It surprised me too, I'd never had it on a dyno befofre, but it has always run strong. There was a small TDR meet at a speedshop in the KC area last month, and the dyno was available. They got two runs very close together, the HP went to 278. 8 & 271. 6, and 646. 1 & 609 on the torque. The temp in the shop at the time was 95 deg. Max readings were at 2300 rpm, and 31 lbs. boost. The only major thing I've done besides the 230 plate, is slide it forward about 1/16" or so. It has about 135k miles on it now, I put the plate in late 96, right after I bought it new.
