Hi All, I am ready to start a bomb program. Truck has 46K, no warranty(ME NOW) I seen the 275 & Stage 1 injectors for sale(post from Mike) but I think I want the Stage 2 or 3's, anybody have some for sale, or know the best source to buy new.

I will be doing transmission, exhaust, ECM, boost Mod's soon.

Tx in advance. Scott

scott , truck specs and intended use will help lead you to the path of a safely BOMBed cummins ...

what ya got , and what do you do with it .

"I am my OWN WARRANTY STATION , if i get caught :p "

Hi Scott, and welcome to the TDR.

I have said this several times, and I'll say it again for your information. This is my opinion, shared by some, but not necessarily by all. Bottom line, you need to evaluate all the advice, and then all the various products you are interested in, then make up your own mind.

There are several levels of enhancing our trucks, from very mild (like small injectors) through extreme (injectors, NoS, propane, fueling boxes,... . ). Everyone's needs are different, and what is right or best for someone else isn't always the best route for you to take.

There are many local TDR events all around the country. Best to attend a few, or at least get in touch with a few guys near you with various BOMBs (BOMB = Better Off Modified Baby!) and ask to ride in/drive their trucks to feel for yourself what each BOMB does for the truck. Most of us would gladly let you ride or drive our trucks for the experience.

Now for my advice:

Carefully evaluate what your needs/wants are before you start any serious (expensive) BOMBing. Some people start small, say smaller injectors, or light fueling boxes, etc. , then decide they want more power (be careful, BOMBing is an extremely infectious disease, and once you are infected, it likely will spread very fast and there is no cure :D), and then those smaller injectors are swapped out for bigger ones. In this way, you upgrade piecemeal, and go through expensive partial increases to get top where you want to end up. In my case, I decided I wanted as much :D factor as I could get without going fully insane, so I started right away with the Diesel Dynamics stage 3 injectors, which at that time were basically the largest injectors available anywhere. They were of course a little more expensive than the stage 1 or 2's, or the 275 RV injectors, but I personally wanted to go as far as I could right from the start.

Not everyone wants or needs to follow that example, so keep that in mind also. I just wanted to point that out, to possibly keep you from spending too much money in piecemeal upgrades.

There are several TDR folks and advertisers that are great sources for things like injectors, and some companies give TDR member discounts. One of the best sources for things like injectors and fueling boxes is a TDR member called HVAC who runs www.performancediesel.net

Whatever you do, you will really enjoy your Cummins, even stock they are just incredible engines.

Scott--as Mopar Muscle said--we need your truck specs. . year, auto or stick, 2 whl or 4x4 and any thing else you can throw in----

And Tom has given you some very sound advice--if you don't know where you want to go--definitely try to ride in some trucks with different set ups---chris

Thanks & Sorry

Thanks for the reply's and sorry for the lame info. I have been a member of TDR for @ 1 year. I have not been checking out TDR lately like I have wanted to. Don't beat up on me!!!
I have: Y2K, 4+4, Auto, 354's(wish I had 410'S), Anti-spin, Quad cab, long bed, ect, and all the bells and whisles.
The only BOMBing I have done was inject some propane, via tank in pass floorboard w/ hose going to filter housing. "I loved the sound"
I am considering injecters because, like everybody else, I love the power/torque. I also failed my Cummin's 2 weeks ago by running out of fuel. I had to crack injecters to get going. I think I overtightened the rear inj. It has slight leak. I thought that since it was leaking, I would change all to something fun!!! My wife can smell the fuel really strong now(which I like). This also will allow me to say, "well hun, to get rid of smell, I have to replace injecter's, cost @ $300. 00". You guy's know what I mean?
I will probably go with something big for now(stage 3's) I know what your thinking, auto trans. This will be next, then some boxes/boost and exhaust.
Thanks for the info.
P. S. what has HVAC got his machin up to now in Torque/HP????
Scott

well scoot , thats better , we weren't dogging you , but needed to know trans type mainly .

first off DD#'s will give you about the same power as 275's and a VA , actually a bit more , i went faster in the 1/4 with dd3's than with 275's and the VA . that power level is a bit more than you want to subject the stock trans to . i would seriously get the treans done first , or go with a amaller injector . i will probably step down to 2's , possibly 1's as my fuel mileage decrease with the 3's vs. 275's is something i didn't want .

as far as that line , you may not have tightened it enough , and to bleed you only need to crack the center 2 or 3 injectors , don't ask how i know , a couple times ...

last i heard HVAC was up at 650hp plus rear wheel

HVAC is still under the 650hp level, but very, very soon I think another dyno run is in order and we'll see if the ol' red rocket can best that #... . if everything hooks it'll be very interesting... ..... chris

I agree with everbody and especial Csutton7 on riding in another's truck. I rode in trucks and asked at meetings and asked some more to find out what I (NEED) for the truck with what I plan on doing with it. That's not counting saving the money and wishing for a while.
