I have been reading and thinking this bombing thing over for about a year now. Due to cash flow and other projects I can't do any serious bombing, especially with a automatic.

Injectors are a little difficult to put on, but you can't tell

that they are not OE unless you pull one out. And it should give a nice power boost without destroying the trans

The only other things I plan on doing to the engine are a 4" exhaust system and some gauges.

Does anyone know of any serious drawbacks to this plan?

Could it overload the stock lift(boost) pump?

Moto head

the 275 injector upgrade is a very mild hp upgrade.

yes the power over stock is nice but when I go to the dealer and disconnect the other "things"

the stock feeling hits you like a cold slap in the face :D

As one would say "<b>JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!</B>"

A used set of 275's should be easy to find for under 2 bills

BOMB ON!

The easy thing to do is an EZ. Comes of in under a minute and leaves no trace. It is the single most beneficial mod to do to the Cummins... ... imho.

An ETH with a set of 275's will run about 270-280HP on the dyno... On an ETC motor, you'll gain around 30-40 HP. DD Stage 1's are a better bet, IMO... Cost about 100 bucks more though. Pick whichever you want--both are great.

I for one am very happy with the 275's. I just wanted a little more power for towing without tearing up the transmission. If thats all your after for around $300. 00 it's a good deal, if your planing on a bunch more changes maybe the EZ would be better for you.

Papa Joe has a ETH with 275's. He dynoed this weekend at Diesel Thunder in Spokane. His truck produced 283. 9 HP.

Injectors may be a little cheaper, but an EZ would be better.

Just adding more fuel (injectors) can cause your EGTs to climb pretty high, and also give a lot of smoke (not that that's a bad thing). You should also add a boost elbow, which will increase boost (more air) to keep your temps down. This will also require a boost module to keep the computer from faulting out due to over-boost. This will probably end up costing about the same as a box.

The EZ adds fueling, but also includes the elbow and has a built-in boost module (so you're ready for injectors when you get the transmission upgraded). It (by itself) will not harm your transmission or fuel pump, and is very easy to install/remove for warranty issues.

injectors 'n boxes

i talked to the main cummins mechanic at my DC dealer. i have the distinct impression that if i add the EZ and other things to my engine he will not care or report it to DC. in fact he recommended TDR and the EZ--also straight pipe. maybe before you take everything off before you go to DC for service you should ask a "general" question about bombs. they may not care, or even encourage at least some of the bombing parts. they know that there is lots of potential in the torque monster that can be safely tapped. i'm sure it varies from mechanic to mechanic. there, my . 02 worth, for what it is worth--probably lessthan . 02.
