I am going to install one or the other in the very near future. I want the best possible mpg's and the least damaging/most beneficial to my injector pump. Cost is a factor, so the the Edge needs to be about twice as beneficial as the injectors, if I am going that route. I will have both someday, but right now I can only afford one of them, and I don't want to stress my factory clutch too much. So, let me hear your opinions and suggestions.

Thanks,

Chace

The Edge

That would be my choice if I could only get one. It's easy to install and easy to uninstall. I haven't got my clutch to slip yet, not like I've been trying or anything.

I added the 275RV injectors and pyrometer as my first mods two years ago. I was happy with the results at the time and might have had a slight increase in MPG. The thing I liked about the injectors is that it is a mechanical change and you don't have any wiring or electronic problems to deal with.

This year I added a PE-EZ box. Very easy to install and gives a good boost in power. With the EZ set at the factory default my MPG dropped a bit, but the fun factor went up. With the EZ set at 2, the fun dropped a bit, but now my freeway mileage is up and better than it was with just the injectors. I got a good honest 20 MPG on a trip this weekend where the low 19's was what I was getting before.

If you're only able to do one, I'd go with the injectors first. Reason being is that the electronic boxes keep changing every six months or so with some new/improved box so waiting on a box may get you more for your money.

I would go with the Edge EZ. I just put my friends in my truck and the difference is unbelievable, and the best thing is, i can take it out in 1 minute if there is ever a problem. There is no way to get so much power for so little work other then an EZ.

Well, I saw just the opposite of Mopar - no MPG increase with 275's (1st mod), but about 1 MPG with the EZ. EGT's will be better with the EZ, better yet, buy an Edge Comp and just don't hook up the fuel pump solenoid wire - that'll work the same as an EZ, but have additional "available" features.

Chace... I would go with the injectors... most everyone I know of that has installed the 275s along with some type of boost module gets about 1 1/2mpg increase. I have installed these for one of my friends on two different trucks of his... he reported the increase on both of them!

The other factor is, as you said, price. The boxes are changing all of the time. Rumors of a new VA box abound. If you wait a bit for a box, you can have newer technology or buy an older one for a cheaper price.

I have installed injectors (275's and Stg I's) on 5 different trucks - no noticeable MPG increase on any of the trucks when calculated by hand - trip computer shows 1-2mpg better though.

If I would do it again I would install DD2 injectors instead of the 275's. Or even the dd1's. If you want to compare price the dd2's are about the same as a box. But then you have to install them, so you have to add 1. 5hrs. But this is what i would do if I could turn back time. :) I dont feel there is a huge jump in power to the 275's. You will notice a difference, but I was expecting more at the time to be honest with ya.

Chace, personally, I'd go the EZ first. It increases fueling (like mild after market injectors) has a built-in boost module that will let you increase boost to keep the EGT's under control, can be installed/uninstalled in minutes in case you still value your warranty (whereas you're looking at a couple of hours with injectors), and will probably perform as well, if not a little better than 275 injectors.

I agree with Sky, if I had to do it again I would go with the DDIIs instead of the 275s. My clutch has held up great with the EZ and the 275s though.

Chace, as you can see from the varying opinions, this is a true personal decision you will have to make. You can't go wrong with either modification. My 2 cents would be go ahead and do some injectors - if you are comfortable with the prospect of opening up your engine. If that holds no appeal to you, then plug in an EZ box and GO!! Have Fun.

Thanks for the input.

I don't mind putting in the injectors, but if I need a boost module to realize the potential of the injectors, I think I will go with the EZ. Why buy a boost module if you are (eventually) going to get an EZ. I am leaning towards the EZ. Thanks.

I know this is off topic but I tried Howes fuel treatment (meaner power kleaner) for 3 tanks and my mileage got progressively worse. From 18. 5 average down to 15. I went to power service in the gray bottle and went back up to 18. 5. Go figure, I think I am wasting my money.

275's

I had a set of Bully Dog Stage III injectors and worked out a deal to send them back in a swap for 275's. I done chickened out on that much hp (planning on the thousand or so bucks for a clutch and install was very persuasive as well :D). The 275's are on sale at ADT this month for $249. 00, no core charge. I think they are going to be real nice with the EZ on setting 3.

No question. The EZ. Driven properly it will deliver increased fuel mileage. Plus it can be installed in 5 minutes, so if warranty work is necessary, pop if off.
