There has been a lot of discussion about 275 injectors, performance and mileage. What follows is my experience on the installation on a 2001. 5 extended cab 4x4 3500, six speed and 3. 54 RE. The only other mod that the truck has is the 4in. Jardine ex. Plus I have EGT and boost gauges. The 2001. 5 is my 3rd Dodge turbo. Previously I had a 96 12 valver w/ automatic and a 98. 5 Auto. Both had 3. 54 RE. They were both great trucks but I had an uncontrollable yearning for the 6 speed ETH, so I replaced the 98. 5 last fall.
STOCK RESULTS:
In November I took a 6,531 mile trip from Seattle to Niagra falls. I should add that I carry a 11 ft 6 in. Northland Camper that weighs in at 4000 lbs. plus, fully loaded. Gals of fuel used 585. 8 which gives 11. 15 mi/gal. The worst mileage was 8. 1 bucking a head wind so high that we eventually stopped. Driveability was good but it just seemed like it needed a little extra umph! (H. P. to you purists)
RESULTS W/4in JARDINE EX. ALONE:
Absolutey no mileage improvement over stock but it did seem to spool up better for a little better response.
RESULTSW/BOSCH 275's and 4 in JARDINE EX. :
The truck was loaded the same as stock with the 11ft 6 in. camper weighing 4,000 lb. plus. On this trip we drove 5,268 miles and used 471. 9 gal of fuel. Doing the math the average miles /gal equals 11. 16 or . o1 mi/gal better. However, the driveability of the truck was dramatically better. Where I previously had to shift down to make it over a mountain or incline it was not necessary or you were one gear higher. Horse power and torque were very noticeably improved without any sacrifice in mi. /gal of fuel. My worst mileage again was bucking a very high wind coming out of L. A. where I got 8. 9mi. /gal. Also, very similar to stock.
EGT & BOOST
On some very steep grades in Mont & Utah the EGT got into the yellow around 1150 deg F. , however, this could be quickly cured by backing off just a hair or shifting down. I saw nothing that was of concern. Max. boost(remember I am stock) was about 24 at which point it dumps fuel and the boost drops back to 22.
In summary, I have experienced a very noticeable increase in power. While I have not put the truck on the dyno the advertised claim of 40 to 50 hp with a correspondening increase in torque would seem to be accurate. Driveability of the truck is much better than stock.

Great post, Max!! #ad

Good long runs to average out the terrain issues and in the same season to eliminate fuel variation. Good objective data.

Thanks for the post and the effort.

Sounds exactly like my conclusions. I have logged every tank of fuel with odometer mileage since new (now has ~40k miles). I have added, in chronological order: 285/75 tires (came with 245's), 275HP injectors w/ boost module (yes, a boost module does help even the 275's), Power Edge, DTT Valve Body, EZ Edge, DTT Torque Converter. I have also used different fuel additives. The ONLY place anyone can see any difference in my mileage is when I changed the tires - I have 4. 10 gears and the mileage went from 14. 3mpg to 15. 5mpg when I replaced the tires (now running lower rpm's at same speed). Yes, I correct for the tires (multiply odometer reading by 1. 077 to get true miles - this is based on the difference in diameter and, therefore, circumference of the tires). No, I don't pay any attention the trip computer - it shows over 20mpg - I wish! None of the other mod's have improved my mileage, nor have they made it worse.
