Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) miss at idle`

I just installed a set of 275s yesterday and can't say enough about the improvement I'm seeing. I replied to a post on 275s that I was hearing a deep sound at idle from the airbox that sounds like much different from stock. Anyone out there know about this change? I'm running a K&N stock replacement filter that is working well according to oil report. Also, can I mess with the waste gate arm, and if so, what do I have to look out for as far as trouble.

I would not mess with the wastegate! You can get into some problems doing that. You need to get a boost elbow or the spring arm that goes over the wastegate arm to hold it from opening so soon, it depends on which model of turbo you have. Plus you'll have to get a boost fooler that hooks into the map sensor so you dont throw an over boost code. Talk to Diesel Dynamics, they can hook you up with what you need.

Injector Install.........

LLiddell... ... ..... How long did it take for your install? I bought some DD1's from Diesel Dynamics with the TDR 20% discount, haven't received them yet. Getting the full DTT transmission a week from tomorrow.

It took about 4 hours. I saved time by not taking the intake manifold off. I wasted time by having to fabricate a wrench to get at number 2 fuel line nut. Make sure you get a 19mm crows foot wrench to torque the fuel lines. I used a 8mm bolt to pop the injectors out and a small screwdriver to pop the feed tubes out. Its really easy and I took someones advice( I can't remember who sorry ) and did number 1 first so that I could get the hang of it close up. You will like the results. Good Luck

i changed mine in about 1 hour 45 minutes easy as cake once you figure it out. you really dont need special tools makes it alot easier though. i didnt have any special ones. any one can do it. let me know how you like your dd2 thinking of going with them myself.

on a stock output cummins in a 2000 2500 with an auto. will the stock transmission be able to hold the 275's with out any transmission upgrades. ?

I have a 99 with a stock transmission. All the 275s do is wake it up. The transmission seems to shift better since the install.

275's

We (son JR2 & I) installed 275's in my truck 3 years ago. Best thing I ever did to it. Also have the restricted elbow and boost fooler.

I am getting 32 psi boost with only those mod's. and the EGT's stay as before even when towing.

My acceleration in the 40-60 mph range improved dramatically.

Could someone please explain the difference between 275s and Stage 1 injectors. I ordered some Stage 1s and am having them installed on Friday, but there sure seems to be a lot of talk on here about 275 injectors.

You did good. 275's I believe will give you about 30HP extra at the rear wheels. The DD1's (Stage 1) injectors you ordered give you 50 HP at the rear wheels. I myself just ordered the DD1's and will install them once my DTT transmission goes in on monday.

I talked to Diesel Dynamics about the Boost Fooler. They no longer sell them because they come with the Edge boxes. I want to add 275's, but adding a box to them just to get a fooler would add too many HP for the stock clutch. gauges would also be mandatory with this. I wanted to start small with gauges and 275's and a fooler that would not add HP . Adding a box and clutch means iI will have to stay stock. [Stock is 235 HP] Any ideas?

If you get a True Torque Power Module you can put it in the timing only setting. That way the boost module part works, but you only pick up about 7-8hp from timing. No extra fueling is added on setting 1.

Once you fix the trans, move the jumper and get an instant 40+ more hp.

Okay before you start throwing around HP numbers you need to know where you started to begin with. A stock auto 99 truck puts out 215 adv. HP. Put in 275's and you should gain 60 hp. Go to a HO and you will only gain 30 hp. I believe the DD1's and the 275's will produce the same hp in your truck. :D

I like the idea of Keith's box, but am still curious if there is a boost fooler that is not combined with a fueling box [ and what the price is ] Believe me ,I have searched , but any time I got close , it was always was described with generic names or with shorthand i could not understand. Thanks for your help

Stubbe... ... ... ... It is rare for 275's to add that much HP. If the 275's advertise that they give that gain that is more than likely Flywheel HP. Most of the time if Dyno'ed it is only about a 30HP increase at the rear wheels. This is just from what I have read. I could be way off though.
