That seems like too much money. I paid under 800 dollars installed and did not go with the road hazard. I'd wait if you could. They are great tires, I have had mine for over a year and love them, no problems!!

I paid 857. 34 and that included 8% sales tax and $7 CA tire fee whatever that is. Mounting and balancing would have been $10 per tire. That was at a local America's Tire Co. on June 9.

At the time, every place I called said they were on nationwide back order. This store had some in the house. I found the store with some in stock by looking on their web site.

When I checked back the next day to see how up-to-date the web site was. That store showed none in stock and the price had gone up from the day before by about $10 per tire. I can't remember the exact number.

Now they have two flavors on that site. One is 204$ and the other is 220$. They both have raised white letters but the cheaper one is speed rated R and other one QR which I think is wrong on both counts.

JARichard that is about what I was quoted when I called around about that same exact tire. And that's the tire I'd go with if I had the snazzy new rims like you got

Wish i could ge your prices!

I was quoted iver $1100 by 3 different people installed without road hazard.

$945 was cheap. And those are coming out of Nevada

Check out the "Tire Rack", they have a warehouse there in Louisiana.

Discount Tire's online store sells for $187 but shipping is free. But they told me 2-5 weeks for delivery. Road Hazard is $22. 50 additional per tire.

When I talked to Discount Tire in Spokane a couple weeks ago they had 20 285/70/17s in stock with black sidewalls, but none with RWL.

This is for DgFoster, from what I have read the rim width should be 70 to 90 percent of the tire width. 285/25. 4= 11. 22", 7"/11. 22"=62%.

Just curious.....

Why do you want white letters? They cost more and are harder to keep looking new. I also personally don't think they look good on our trucks.

But that is just my opinion.

The black side wall ones are the DC OEM tires and and that tire "does not meet the RMA requirements for severe snow conditions. " I guess it won't have the M+S label on the side.

The raised white letter tire does not have this note. I notice also different revolutions per miles for the two tires and a different section width.

I get the white letter ones and put the white letters on the inside.

Section width is the same, the rim is just . 5 inches wider for comparison.

Made a call and was told they are the same tire.

Strange though that the overall dia. is the same but different revs, at least on paper.

Tire specs

Yeah, I noticed that too. Same diameter, different revs. Also one has the note about not approved for snow and one doesn't. If they are indeed the same, at Tire Rack the black sidewall ones are 11$ cheaper per tire. So that's the way to go if you are going to put the white letters inside.

If somebody has the blackwall ones can they check to see if they have the M+S label on the side and/or the moutain symbol with the snowflake inside? Thanks!

Maybe because different rim widths result in different revs per mile? Just a thought.

Probably true, never thought of that.

Just went out and looked at my blackwall 285/70/17 AT. Big letters on the side wall... ... ... " M+S ".

Does it also have the symbol of a mountain with a snowflake inside? That is the symbol for "severe snow" rating and is actually different from the M+S. The ones I have on have both the M+S and that symbol. Just curious about all of this and I would like to know if the info on the BFG site is right or not. Thanks for taking the trouble to check, much appreciated.

Went and looked, didn't see the symbol.

Same tread, same material... ... ... Hmmmmm.

Wonder why it says "this size not not meet RMA requirements for severe snow conditions" on the black walls. Its the same DANG size!

I guess when they put them in the mold for the extra print for white letters, it has that added too.

ECappleman, did you look at all 4 tires or on the inside?

I think they only put the symbol on one side of the tire. I have the black side walls and I have the severe snow symbol on my set (3 on the outside and 1 on the inside).

They're the same tire. The white lettering are probably harder to get because they probably don't mfr/sell as many.
