What is that advantage of one size tire over the other? They are both roughly a 33", except the 305 is 12. 5 wide and the 285 is 11. 5 wide. Nitto Terra Grappler has both of them in a "E" rated tire now and I will buy one of them but wanted to know the difference. I tow in the winter alot and thought the narrower tire would be better for the snow.

I go with the 285's. They're a good compromise. 255-85-16's are now available through Toyo in the M-55 type. It's great that the manufacturers are offering more tires in Load Range "E" My truck sustained $3300. 00 dollars from a"D" rated tire blowing out on my truck. :{

I have the 305s on mine and they do not rub anywhere - the spare fits between the rails and is a bit close to the tail pipe but, it fits. Nice tires.

I had some open lug 305/70x16" tires that gave great traction from Canyonlands red rock to Montana snow over mud. They rubbed on sharp turns, like in parking lots. An A/T tread pattern may not rub, I don't know. I may check out the 295/75 A/T series if they are available. :)

BTW, wide tires with the Cummins torque will push snow bumper/spring hanger heigth; a limited slip rear end is a must.
