I've decided to take the plunge and upgrade to 19. 5" wheels and tires to handle the load of my camper and trailer. I called Rickson today and they told me at least 3 months before their forged wheels will be back in production and they ahve a waiting list for them once the are. I believe I'm going to use the Vision 81 wheel and the Michelin XDE2+ tires. Is anyone outhere running a 285/70r19. 5 size tire with a stock height truck? The narrowest I would like to go is 265, but would prefer the 285. The offset of the Vision places the tires about 3/4" further out than stock. I'm buying the tires here in Canada and takiing them with me on holidays and buying the wheels in the US since they are unavailable up here, so I kinds need to know if they'll fit. TIA, Marc.

265's on steel wheels (stock offset) fit well. I'd be suspect of the 285's with more offset without at least a leveling kit in front.

I'm running 225's on all my duallys... . they are just a bit taller than the stock 17" on a dually... . I don't think I'd go that big on a SRW truck...

the 225's that I'm running are rated at around 4100 lbs each... and we've never had a problem with the 225's on our F550 in 500K miles...

See my post on the other 19. 5" thread...

One other thing, just as an FYI: The 285's are load range H and will be heavy --- really heavy --- tires. I don't think they'd miss twice the weight of an oem 17" tire by much, if at all.
