Hello and happy holidays to all members,Now will a 285/75/16 fit on a 10" wide alum. wheel? My experience with tires in the past says yes,the sidewall will probably fit square with the wheel. But the salesman at the company says they will not fit properly and would have to use starting fluid to set bead(i know,i know, its not safe, but it works)and forget the 10" and go with an 8" wide wheel. I like the looks of the 10",but what am i sacrificing? Now i'm throwing this out to you guys to get some of your input and set this straight. Thanks

10's chew up wheel bearings,,,,,,,,, i've got 285 on the factory 01 aluminum wheels, which are 8 inch and i think they look great,,,,,,,, handles so much better than it did with the chrome 6'5's ,,,,,,,,,,, i go with 8's and watch he back spacing

Happy holidays to you also. This is from the Tire and Rim Association Inc. yearbook. The 285/75R16 tire is approved with wheels from 7. 5" - 9. 0", with the recommended size being 8. 0". 315 wide tires are the smallest calling for a 10. 0" wheel. This is what the experts say, though I've been outside of these dimensions myself. Usually on the small side of recommended wheels on big-tire, lightweight Jeeps run off-road, no trailer, etc. You might find somebody that runs this combo without a problem...
