Put a set on in about march they have 9500 miles on them and are down to 11-12/32 of tread[new 16/32]. The problem is they are braking up, Chunks of the tread is braking off. Anyone else have this problem? Where to look for help? Thanks

Bfg All Terrain

my friend had set on his 96 ram and they were chunking off rubber reallt bad also, made it about a year and they were completely shot. That sucks because cost so much and don't last. :{

This is an interesting thread!

I have run BFG M/Ts and A/Ts for the last 20+ years... the first set of A/Ts on my '98. 5 Ram (285s on 16x8 M/T Alcoa Challengers). The 285s lasted over 55k mi. (as memory serves) . However, my 295s (on the same wheels) are wearing quite a bit faster. One thing a little different between the two (besides a small size difference) is the 285s were pre KO and the 295s are KOs. Hmmm. Oh ya and, they were all driven on gravel EVERY day!

I'm thinking about breaking ranks this next time in favor of either Goodyear MTRs or Pro Comp A/Ts, or even possibly M/T MTXs. Opinions? [especially noise considerations]

I just ordered a set of Kumho Venture M/T's for my truck. I seem to ruin tires pretty quick... due to driving a 1ton like a race car. I had Yokohama Geolander A/T's on it last... they only made it about 35,000 miles. The Kumho's that I ordered have better reviews than the Geolanders, Goodyears, and Dunlps... but only time will tell.

And at $96each from The Tire Rack... I couldn't complain!

i have cooper discoverer st 315/75R16's... i put a lot of highway miles on my truck, but also use it in the fields and a lot of gravel lanes in and out of fields and what not. also, they rub on the control arm, and i always hear that sound when someone else drives it... point is, i have not seen any chunks coming off the tires or other abnormal wear, not even where they hit the control arm... price is good compared to BFG's too, $164 mounted and balanced

Any other opinions on the tires I'm considering as for noise, wear, ability to not pick up small gravel... ????

I have BFG 285 KOs with almost 30K and still lots of tread left. I have been carrying a 2000+# slide-in camper about 340 miles each way to the deer lease every weekend, the last 6 or 8 miles down a gravel road with all sorts of rock. Once there, I dump the camper so we can go all over the property. These tires have withstood rocks, mud and an assortment of thorns I never new mother nature could produce. No punctures yet (of course, now that I have told y'all this I have probably cursed myself with flats and destroyed tires this weekend!) I hope chunks of rubber don't start flying off but so far, they have been exceptional. Has anybody tried to get their bad ones replaced under warranty?

Just a thought and my 2 cents.

Cheers
