285's or 305's

are there any 285 or 305 tires that are e rated. i can not seem to find any. checked all local stores nobody says that they are made. my 315's are done, i need to get something on monday (or order). most 285's and 305's are d rated and about 2700-2800lb per tire. i do not feel comfortable towing with that tire. the 315's are around 3200-3300 per tire and also d rated. that is more than the 265's that came on it.

Look and see what the factory tire is on the Power Wagon. I belive it's an "E" rated 285.

Doesn't the power wagon run BFG All Terrains? I don't know if it's "E" rated.

I think the BFG 285/70/17" is 3195 lbs and D rated.

I know that the 285b Wrangler MTR's are good for weight handling, on the old man's welding rig he has single 285's on it and it weighs in at around the 11,000lb mark, 7000lbs across the rear end, and he has had incredible luck with these tires, and the are lasting remarkably well too, no flats even, and he runs probably 75% gravel! The LT285/70R17 Goodyear MT/R are 'D' rated at 3195 lbs. I ran 49K plus on my first set. I pull goosenecks and commute with truck. I tried to rotate regularly. I was pleased.

Goodyear MTR are tough tire, you can not go wrong with them, they do wonder a little on the highway in the corners and they will make noise. I ran 2 set last year in rock country. they were 4 to 5 time better than the factory tire the Landcruzers came with orginally. Yes, that some 50 flats per year on the work site. 300 kilometer of the Saudi Lava Rocks est of the Red Sea. I glad i did have to pay for all thouse tires.

I have learned with the MTR's that regular rotoation and balancing now and then will greatly add to the lifespan of these tires. I have run this set on two vehicles, gravel, highway, commuting, and I know I have AT LEAST 50k on them still at probably 45%, though with the mods on the truck, they seem to not last quite as long..... I wonder why. .

Nitto makes a 295 in 17" that are rated 3195#.

They're just slightly larger than 285's.

And a 33x12. 50x18! Oo. Oh well, my guess is that it will be months before we see those tires, if at all. If we do actually get them, they'll be $325-$350 ea, just like the 35" ones that are already out.

E mail from toyo suggested placing order with local tire dealer now for priority. The 295/70R17 Li128q is almost identical in size to the 285/75R16 E Li126q (3748 Lbs). The 285/75R16 is priced at $202. 99 US at 1010 tire.

Sweet. Why in the heck does toyo make a 40" tire for a 22" wheel, but they don't make a 33" for 17" OR 18" wheels... You can't convince me that there is less of a need.
