I have a set of Toyo Open Country A/T and the 2 rears are getting close to the wear mark. So I went to get 2 new ones for the rear and no one has them. I can trade in my 2 fairly good fronts and not so bad rears for a set of 315 BFG's for a half the price of 2 new Toyo's (given that anyone would have them).

So my ? is, what are the common likes and dislike of the BFG's? I am also running the H2 wheel which has a greater offest than the stock wheels.

By the way I like the Toyos alot and got 13k miles out of the rears without rotating them and still have room to go, but not much. One option is to wait and move the rears to front and visa versa.

Thanks, Russ

315s take a lot of power out the truck expecially when towing. I would not be too happy with the Toyos if I only got 13k out of them either, I was planning on getting those when my BFGs wear out, surprised to hear they did not last well.

Well, had I rotated them, I would probably get 30k out of them. My fronts are almost new and have worn very well (no cupping even treadware on the inner and outer edges) and the rear tires have still a little bit before the wear mark and considering I mash the padel at every light and have the Edge J/A and can't forget about the couple of burnouts I had to do for the fun of it. :-laf

So I would say the tires have proven to be pretty good, it just sucks that I can't get any right now.

I kept blowing up my Toyo's so i took them off with about half the tread left and went to the BFGs and have gotten about 70,000 miles (each) out of two sets. Couldn't be happier. I also have 410 gears so towing power is fine.

When I switched from my 285 to my 315/75/16 MT's, it felt like I lost about a hundred power. Big difference between them. I love my 315's and won't go back to the 285. I just added more power ;) I also got about 45,000 miles out of my last set with frequent rotations Oo.

Russ. . 1010tires.com has them. 2 tires with shipping to 80134 was 529. 54. they seem to have all the tires that no one else has.

P. S. i saw you towing your boat at jordan and lincoln a while back i was on my way home from work. looked good! gota love a nice RAM pulling a nice boat.

also i had 35's on my 03 they do use some power off the line even with a 6spd... chris

Chris,

Hey thanks for the info. Man are they proud of those tires. They are spendy. I just might have to do it vs the BFG's. I can at least keep the old rears as spares. This is kinda concerning that if I have a blowout on anyone of them it will very difficult to replace.
