2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 295/75R16's on a stock 2500?

Anyone know if these tires will clear using stock steel wheels and stock suspension? I know 285's will fit, just wondering if I can squeeze in the 295's. I do take this truck off road a lot and do not want any rubbing under flex/tight turns. Thanks for any help.

I raised my front 1. 75 inch and I run 305s even with a 800# snowplow hanging out front I have not had them hit. I think you would be OK but if you go off road a lot why not raise your front up. A lot of places sell the 2" level kit.

I had a set on my stock 01. The only problem was at a real tight turn they would hit the 4 link up front. . Never the body. . Went back to 285's. . Better all around size for me and what the truck does. They will fit.

FWIW, I ran 295/75 BFG AT's with no issues. It was a great size for the truck... didn't seem to give up any power.



They did *just* touch the control arms at full lock, so I simply quit turning right before full lock.

I have run 2 sets, the first 57000, and the second going on 41000. No clearance problems. Good tires, quiet, tough sidewalls.

I just put on new 285/75/16 s on my truck, and decided to put the old 285 on the spare rim. It is TIGHT! I had to pull the tire toward the back of the truck and push it up between the frame rails. I was a little worried that I made a mistake by changing the spare. The old tires had a little less than 1/2 tread, but rode so terribly that I had to replace them. A little less tread, and it would have fit better. Still would be tight. I would have to wonder how you would get a 295 up there.

I have 4" exhaust and a baled 305 on 8" wide rim for a spare it is tight but it is in there

285 vs. 305

I belive the 305/70/16 and the 285/75/16 are the same height, but the 305 is about an inch wider. The more I look at mine, the more I think I should have bought 305's. I was a little concerned about the truck "floating" around more on the wider tires. Maybe for the next set?

I never had a "floating" problem with 295's. As a matter of fact, I even noticed a better ride due to that taller sidewall.

I'm running 285 BFG AT's right now, but my spare is a well worn 295 from the last set. I have 4" exhaust also and the spare fits fine. My next set will be 295's as the PO went back to 285's to lower the hitch height slightly for pulling his fifth wheel. I have put the spare next to the 285's and there is a noticeable difference in size.

This is a dump question but: I have factory 265's and want to change to 285's can I keep my 265 spare? What happens with 285 on one side and 265 on the other? I would only run until I can repair the 285. You see the small spares on cars is this hard on the differentials?

It shouldn't be a problem on the front, or the rear with an open diff, if you have a limited slip rear or are towing heavy you may want to use the smaller spare on the front and move a 285 to the rear if driving over a few miles. The 285s are quite common, you should be able to find a worn out 285 for a spare fairly cheap.
