XRRA Off Road Racing! - 3 June - Colorado Springs!

Well that time has come again and on May 20th the diesel buses will be crawling around the track, well not ours. Once again Cedar Lake has bought school buses and handed them out to the area schools in the annual bus race. Last year for those that were here will remember we had a DT360 that rocked, two 10 lap races and we lapped the field, Brian Myre lapped some buses more than once, winning both events, and the second race he had to start in the back of the field. This year we hope to repeat, although all the buses this year are International's they are all the same 75 passenger lead sleds, but we are going to make the best of this electronic nightmare, work has already begun.

The invite is on for all who would like to come to my place in the afternoon, party with us, head over to the race and come back to my place and party some more.

As always I will supply the food and suds, for those crashing I have 80 acres in which you can camp or just crash in the house or even the garage, it has carpet, A/C, TV, stereo... ... ... . etc.

I am not a shy person, we are just a bunch of diesel heads getting together to watch some action. The track is located 2 miles from my home, and race starts at 6:30pm and is over by 10pm.

If you are intrested PM me and I will get you directions... ... ... ... it is a blast. Later Jim.

LOL Ya I got the phone call at the bar tonite... .

Poor Fat Kid..... I'm amaized he didn't figure it out on his own... .

Sorry Andy... . Jim Started it... . we just played along!

Well with 6 days left before the green flag drops, I thought I would give an update to what has happened with the bus.

A set of stacks, which has become a tradition now, paint goes on tomorrow, as well as me getting out there and getting some smoke to roll out the stacks.

There has been a total of 4800 pounds taking out of the bus... ... ..... :--)

Biggest thing is to get that smoke rolling... ... . last year our bus won with a top speed of 55mph, and it was sliding around the corners... ..... this year Brian wants to be able to run 65mph and some things have been done to the suspension for the body roll... ... ..... which personally I thought was cool. Anyway, hope the weather holds nice for Saturday... ... and if it is anything like last year... ... let the fun begin..... later Jim. :-laf

Suspension fix for body roll on a bus?!? Just weld some steel blocks between the axle and frame, that should stop it. :D

I'm not going to make it to this one. Work has me turd herding for that entire weekend. (sewage treatment plant - on call). :{

Jim:

Do they race rain or shine at Cedar Lake Speedway? I looked at the site quickly and couldn't find anything: http://www.cedarlakespeedway.com/

I called them and left a message... I'm not holding my breath for a return phone call. I'm just a Joe Public looking for general info...

Gates open @ 4:30, races start at 6:30... Oo.

Last year they advertised it as a routine race night with the school buses as an added bonus. This year they're advertising it as the school buses being the main feature and the rest of the races as a normal event! :D

Matt

No they won't hold the races in the rain, they would reschedule it, but our local forecast calls for a nice day this Saturday... ..... I am not sure if there is 1 or 2 races this year with the bus, I will find out tonight from Brian.

Anyhow food is ordered beer is ordered... ... ... ... let the fun begin, Matt you coming up early again?

Wish me and the lady could make it, but already have a date with an offroad trip in north eastern wis. sorry guys, but hey, have fun!

Well got back from checking out the bus, it looks cool!!!!! Unfortunatly I have yet to give it some black smoke... ... ... ..... ugh PSD's, and an auto at that. I have parts on order and we hope to be ahead in power on Thursday. Matt you are going to love this, Brian has installed a P. A. inside the bus, with the speaker at the midway point facing the crowd so he can say "hi" to ya.

The kids did a great job with the stacks and body armour... ... ... . the front fenders are trimed back and they have installed a push bar, the bus is cambered to make the left turns... ... ..... I will not say how it was done but it is in no way sitting stock. The paint looks great, and they even gone as far as putting mud gaurds in the rear wheels... ... ... ... . really looks cool for a slow bus.

Anyway regaurdless of power if Brian drives it like last year I have no doubt he will get it done.

Bus has more power now but no smoke show like last year... ... ... I just think a PSD can't smoke... ... ... lol, anyway we are ready to rock, I can't wait.
