Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2nd gear has left the building

Starting last night, my trans (47RE) hangs in first gear until you back out of the throttle, then it will upshift. After much discussion of govenor solenoids and transducers a short road test revealed the trans was skipping right to third. My current thinking is the front band is broken. If this is the case, does anyone know where there is a reputable shop in the southeastern PA area that could build me a better trans ? The truck has 128K on the clock and no power upgrades. I'm not thrilled with spending mucho dinero, but I certainly don't want to do this a second time.

my first rebuilt did that . it broke the 2nd gear apply lever at only 17 mi !!!:{ i also hear good things about jasper if u like em stock. as far as local cant say i could name too many amish rebuilders ... but i hear theyre into real horsepower !!
