21cm housings is a 1st generation style housing, hence the old school dig.

you know we dig you chad :-laf what a great guy to tease

No wonder the smoke has increased 900% ... that has to be awesome... ... . Hopefully Bob's Present will get rid of some of your lag... I thougt that when you originally posted 21cm housing that your #'s were reversed- I had a buddy swap his 21 to a 14 on his 1st gen to wake it up after he put injectors on it.....

Seems to me you could speed up your spool up with a smallet exhaust housing. Stock on the HO is 12 cm wastegated. I went with a 14 & it works very nicely. I believe you can use a 16 cm non wastegated housing without over boosting but the extra $$'s for the wastgate is a good idea.

Heres Some Pic's

As you can see it was hard to get the right angle on the down pipe .....

And if you Have the HY go look at it and you will really see the diffrence .....

The Catcher didnt come today :{

Will meet the mail man tomarrow :D

Then

I hope it will be what I exspect ;)

Smoked out my first Jeep W/NO TOP today ... ... . he didnt look too impressed

Im uploading a video file to 3d ... ...

Night time, kind of shaky but it will give you a good idea how/when the suncoast shifts and the turbo Spools up you can make the pyro gauge out sort of... ..... it climbs to 1200* and stays steady ..... Let me know what you think.

http://www.3d.otisnet.net/me.htm

Boost goes to 30 and stays there

If the catcher does not put the Boost gauge over 35psi I am going to swap out the 60psi for a 35psi gauge ... my brother wants the 60 anyway :>

hmm, pic looks alot like my old HX35/12... no idea why you would want to go over 35psi with it anyway, thats about max for its efficiency range i think.

Well catcher came in today . .

UN be Freakin' Leavable

Imagine your truck was in a sling shot and as you was building boost thur 0-40MPH like a bat out of heck ..... the sling shot was being pulled backwards ... ..... now if you have the go pedal down when that boost reaches 18 # ... ... the sling shot is released ... . and if you dont watch what your doing the truck will pull your hands off the stearing wheel.

Im building boost faster but still not quite as fast as the HY9 when tc is in lockup

Im smoking like MAD

with the comp on 3x3 now it smokes twice the amount then PRE CATCHER 5x5 so you can imaginge what the COMP 5x5 CATCHER And HX 21 smokes like #ad

Power is Way ... WAY ... WAY to much for me ... . lol... ... . but I love it !!!!!

Pyro still in check about 1250* WOT

Im going for another ride ... . later

Well Im back... .

And I will be daily driving in 2x2 ... . for now till I relearn how to drive

It does spool the HX-21 faster than the HY-9 durring normal operation but if your in Lock up going up a hill and your only going 40 or so it takes a few more milli-seconds for the boost needle to move ... but when under normal operation the Catcher/Comp Spools the 21CM EXT housing as fast as a COMPED 5x5 9 CM Housing

And like I said once the boost reachs about 18# its like you just turned on the AFTER BURNERS ... . Im not talking just a little bit of pick up... . its CRAZY !!! SCARY FAST!!!!

VERDIT:

Remember when you tapped that pump wire..... you realized the change from stock right... .

The Catcher to a Comped Truck Feals like its double the Increase from stock to Comp ... and thats unreal !

Well Im going for another drive ... ... ... .

If you want After Burners Get a Catcher !!!

Disclaimer: Im not sure what the diffrence would be if I put my HY back on or a HX-12..... Im sure it would still be a wonderful increase in Power. but the HX 21 Is a Killer Combination !!!

Love IT Love IT Love IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing had to pick up 100 HP with my last 2 mods I cant even drive this thing !!!! But I do Try...

Later

Up to driving on 3x3 with the comp off the 21 wont spool very fast so I have to run the comp on 3x3 . may be a bit dangerous @ winter time .

You could probably get away with using a 16 cm non wastegated housing. They are pretty reasonably priced, but I really think a 14 cm wastegated housing is the appropriate one for your set up. It would clear up a lot of that smoke & get you going a little faster.

I have to ditch the 21cm housing the trany dont like shifting under low boost condtions. .

picking up a HX35 with a 12 cm housing and im going to give it a try

Housing

Like I posted along time ago... . do your self a favor get a PDR hx35 with a 12 or 14 housing youll love it. throw the 21 off a cliff.

Im still getting the HX35-12 ... ITs only $150 and its had a good life. .

But Im not going to install it...

Ive got used to the 21Cm and Im loving it more and more everyday ... 1200* scared me at first but I think it likes to get up to that temp once in a while . .

Ill have 2 back ups my hy-9 and an hx-12

I Found A Brand New HX40-16 for $750 ... I know thats a good deal but just cant bring my self to do it ... SDX is comming up and I really dont want to be broke when Im over there. .

So Im Keeping my set up for now ... and when I do my next change it will be a turbo worth having and it will be getting bolted to a 3 Piece ATS Manifold.

This is good entertainment!!!!!

Keep it coming!

I hope few members believe the 21 housing really spools like a HY35/9!!

You are only after the big smoke right???

For smoke, why don't you simply build a butterfly valve to close off the air in front of the turbo. Close it after the spool up and you will get smoke.

BTW, 1200* in the manifold won't hurt things.

With that 21 CM housing and the cobbled up down pipe DM has, its just got to run great, right? Personally I liked it better when teenagers could not afford to purchase a CTD. But hey I was a teen 42 years ago myself. I had a 54 Plymouth 2 door coupe 230ci I6 with two chrome plated Stromberg 97 carbs, Fenton headers, and 4:10 gears. It was pretty quick in first and second. Built my own floor shift. Pushed down and forward for first, straight back for second and forward again for 3rd. I made a bell crank setup to move the first/rev selection on the transmission, so that pushing down on the chrome Hurst shifter moved that lever. I thought I was pretty smart of a teenager to finger it all out. Plymouth transmission's were a little weird back then in that the one lever on the side of the transmission moved all the time, and the other selected first and Reverse. GM did this on the steering column, but as many of us know, you could get a GM transmission stuck in two gears back in those days, and you had to open the hood and pull one of the levers on the bottom end of the column to free it up.
