There have been quite a few topics about refitting engine, transmission, seats and such, but does a newer radio fit with our trucks? I know they are probably close in size, but is it a bolt in fit?

On the same line of thought, would a running board/ step rail from a 2nd gen bolt under ours? How much different can it be?

I think the am/fm casette w/equalizer I have in my truck came from a 97 truck. So, yes it should work . I also upgraded my 87 GLHS Charger with one. Fast , easy, direct bolt in and sounds good.

put a newer factory am/fm/cd player in mine, easiest job ever! All you do is a couple of bolts, a ground strap, and a couple of connectors.

And as I did you can also buy an adapter plate and wiring harness from Crutchfield (and others I would assume) and install any modern CD/stereo and have it look factory... . actually better.

I think the plate and harness were less than $20 total.

I put in the Blaupunkt cd/stereo unit I had in my wabbitt, along with some decent speakers in the door panels.

My dually has a junkyard radio from a 1997. The only thing about going newer is the background lights of the radio may not match our 1st gen colors.

So an AM/FM/CD/tape would fit in my 91? Coool!! I'm happy with my speakers (they all work) but the tape player is broke, and I have no CD player.

Pioneer also makes a couple really nice units (DEH-P47DH and DEH-P77DH) that are exact fits for our trucks (1. 5 DIN). Plugged the 77 model into my truck and it is nice! They can be picked up cheap on Ebay.

Just another option.
