Injen/AMSOIL Power-Flow Diesel Air Intake

FP Gauge Question

I have been researching and looking through peoples sigs to get an idea of what everyone is doing for mods on there 2nd gens...

Just looking for the basic mods...

Of course it'll be straight piped... . But what about as far as intakes... What are most doing... . enclosed factory intake modded, Afe, Icebox, drop-ins?

I had a AFE Mega cannon on my 3rd gen truck and it sure moved the air... . Anything simliar for the 2nd gens?

What else is reccommended for that era of trucks... Gauges are in... . After market lift pump in process of installing.....

What else can you think of? THANKS

If you've got the gauges and fuel system covered then you have a good start. AFE makes the same great products for 2nd gens too.

What truck did you get? What trans is in it?

I really liked injectors and a Smarty on my '01 when I had it. Let us know what year truck you have now.

Here in California it's getting ugly. The CHP is doing random compliance tests on vehicles on the highway to check if your ride has all the proper smog gizmos for its year. If you are found in violation... any violation... you get a fix-it ticket and towed away on the spot! Heaven help a guy if he has a "off-road" box running level 3 and his cat removed. I've had to stick to small upgrades like the Banks 70HP/170TQ CARB legal box.

Goodbye comrade!

If you get caught then you're just not trying hard enough. A cat is only a cat on the outside. Stripped and gutted it is a resonator that looks like a factory cat. Want a 4" exhaust? break out the Tig welder and give it a 4" resonator as well.

An off-road box is only an off-road box until in has a new metal case that says somthing about being an emission data collection module Property of U. C. Davis Enviromental Studies Dept. S/N 31947t5-vd. If it had an old antenna mounted on the new box for "remote enviromental monitoring" it sure would look cool.

A muffler is only a muffler if it muffles something. Anything stock can be cut and gutted. Really want to make it look good? Buy and mount an o2 sensor bung and put an old o2 sensor into it run the wiring into your emission data collection module Property of U. C. Davis Enviromental Studies Dept. S/N 31947t5-vd.

Want a non Carb filter, intake, etc? A Property of U. C. Davis Enviromental Studies Dept. Carb permit # xy123 sticker could work just great. Need a pamphlet describing the use and studies of the data that is being collected from your truck? Make one!

I in no way use or endorse any method of evasion from every single law the Great state of Kalifornia has on the Books and any method they use to enforce such Communist laws. I just stay out of that state.

fix the KDP. Are we talking 12 or 24 valve? Since your in WA ,the AMSOIL NANO filters are great breathers AND not prone to "moisturizing" like paper types. Larger injectors (too a point) are much better than stock.

OK KDP and #53 arent common and your brakes are all disc and outboard of the hubs(lucky!). You may have an intank pump? I would swap to older 98-00 HX35wg turbo as the HY is a bit small.

you got links or info on where to get a HX35? Would it justify spending money on one?...

Yeah thats why i went 02... Wanted to stay away from 53 and KDP... I wanted all disc's

Read TDR issue 59 about the stock airbox, and you may save your self some money. Basically, the author's opinion is it is the best sealed airbox available to date.

See, signatures are useful. :) Actually, don't use this setup at home. Too quiet for annoying neighbors, it doesn't smoke much, runs too mellow when your driving away from the house while its cold. Too quiet and not rattely enough to bother anyone, Decent fuel mileage for its weight, No high egt's to start dramatic turbo wars over, and about all the ferds hear when youre rolling by them is turbo whine. . Its just too polite of a way to roll by ferds when youre both pulling heavy up the grades. Almost unethical
