I would like to put some towing mirrors on my truck but I have power and heat in my mirrors now and do not want to lose these features so I would have to spend $500+/- to get two sets of mirrors, My idea is, can I get the 2nd gen towing mirrors and install my power actuators/ heaters in to the tow mirrors with the tow mirror glass(since it is just glued on anyway)? might be some fabricatio/modifications to do It , but it will be considerably cheaper that way.

Just bite the bullet, buy 2 pairs, turn around, and sell the pair you dont use... You will get your money's back, so its just temporary. . think of it that way. . I have the 3rd gen mirrors, and need to get a set of 2nd gen now, so I am in the middle of the process. .

I need a passenger side power heated mirror!

Some SOB took out my passenger side mirror when I was parked the other day. If anyone has one they dont need anymore that will fit a 98 I would be very thankful. The plastic cover and power actuators are still intact and work it just shattered the mirror. If anyone wants the parts let me know.

on my 98 I had heated electric regular mirrors, so I went with the mckesh strap on mirrors and removed them when your not using them. I think they run around $125. 00, but there the best of the temp mirrors

My 02 has the manual towing mirrors. I don't miss the electric heater part, but boy do I miss the remote adjusters.

If you make a template of your mirror & take it to a glass shop they should be able to glue a new glass in for you. It should be cheaper than buying another mirror.

Rusty,

What about seeing enough of the verticle when backing?, ie tree limbs, corners of buildings, etc. Do you get enough verticle vision?

Like the idea of totally adjustable with heat.

I run my 02 manuals in the verticle mode all the time, even without 5er.

Bob,

The only complaint I have with the PowerVisions is that the passenger mirror is flat glass, not convex like the OEM. Although better for depth perception, the flat glass gives a smaller field of view than the convex glass. To compensate for this, PowerVision offers custom fit convex spots on the website as an addition to their mirrors.

I haven't measured, but I believe the PowerVisions are probably wider than the factory non-towing mirrors we had, but not quite as tall.

Bestop towing mirrors

The new mirrors came yesterday and got them installed tonight. They are GREAT! I can see the side of the trailer now while driving straight. Before you had to turn some to see past the dually fenders. They have a slight twitch, but isn't enough to be any problem. Nothing severe shaking as some have had.

Wish I had done it sooner.
