2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 2nd gen. ram 4000?

As i was trying to sleep the other night a question from a few years ago surfaced. Three summers ago while stopping for gas on the way back from a service call a rollback pulled up at a nearby pump. On the rollback was what looked to be a brand new cab for a dodge truck. It was painted white and looked to have a mist gray interior. from what i could see the interior was complete. I did a double take when i saw ram4000 on the side where my truck says ram2500. I did not have chance to talk to the men drivinge the rollback and ive been puzzled ever since. has anyone ever heard of a ram 4000? I saw the cab near Blairsville pennsylvania . Anyne have any theories?

I saw one parked in a motel lot close to where I live. It belongs to a traveling asphalt crew from Mexico.



My friend in the dealer parts department says they sell them in Mexico. Beats me, I figured someone was playing with emblems when I first saw it.

When I'm in mexico I see these all the time. I've even been contemplating going to a dealer down there and getting some of the 4000 emblems to put on my truck. But they do sell alot of vehicles in mexico that we cannot get here in the states. I even once saw a fullsize suv dodge 2nd gen body style. It looked like a big version of a durango. Keep and eye out when in Mexico and you will see some interesting stuff!!!!! Later Seth

was just in Cancun last week and saw a 2nd gen Ram 4000. i wonder if it is the same undercarrage that we can get here but just re-badged for some reason? cause it looked just like a 3500 to me in passing.

Chevy sold a 4 door S-10 pickup down there for several years before they were available here

Yeah I get jealous because they have many models we don't get. Including 3/4 reg. cab short bed. I think it is a safety thing.

I saw a shortbed 1/2 ton 4X4 with a V10. I would love to get my hands on a 4000.

I will admit that Mexico had lots of weird cars/trucks down there... . I saw the 4-door S10's and some very weird GM cars that looked like they were pieced together from 10 different models... .



All in all - I can't confirm what I said, saw, or did that week. :-laf

While I was in Monterrey I saw quite a few of the Ram 4000s and 5000s. A number of them have dual tandem rear axles with flat beds on them. Rig that up with a 5th wheel hitch and you'll have as close as you can get to a mini 18 wheeler.



I also saw a few Ram Chargers down there. Just like fredflinstone said, looked like a full-size Durango or like the Dodge version of a Chevy Tahoe.

i have only been to mexico once, and i noticed how all their cars are like peiced togather, they usually look pretty stupid. but id be interested in that ram 4000 deal... i wish they made a ram 5500 here...

I once looked into importing a 4 door toyota diesel truck from overseas. It can be done but the money you would have to pay is incredible.



One of those Dodge tahoe things would be great with a cummins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just think --- a ram 5000 with dual rear axles, a twenty ft. rollback bed, under bed toolboxes with slide out drawers, chrome stacks, my girlfriend would be very jeoulous

Why don't we get the chance to get these vehicles? If it's a safety thing then okay but if not, what makes the U. S. unqualified to get these while Mexico get's them?

You never know. I think that many of the trucks I've seen down there would have a good go up here. There's a F-550, why don't we get one? I am sure it costs good dollars to get new vehicles running and maybe they didn't want to pay to get them in our market, not sure.

I''ve seen an F-550 up here in Canada, but never a 4000.
