2nd Gen seats in first gen - INSTALLED!

Okay, I know there have been several discussions regarding this topic however, thought I'd start a new post.

I recently acquired a set of manual 40/20/40 seats from a 2000 club cab, and am very pleased and looking forward to getting them installed however, the mounting has thrown me a curve.

I don't mind them being a little higher however, when roughing in the the frames, man do they require help.

I know this has been done however, can some of those "more experienced" shed some light here? Photos, sketches, drawings etc. ? I'm sure I need to retain the 2000 base as it mounts the center seat as well.

Please help.

Once this is done, plan to sell my buckets and center console as well (gray cloth seats).

Well what I found is that early 2nd gens had a different floor pan. When they went to a quad cab it changed. The early seats are an easy fit. The late are allot more work. I know samsrams is also doing one now, I'm sure he will get in on this. Maybe he has gone farther than me and can post some pics. Just get out the sawzall and welder and start cutting and welding. I think its going to just be a case of trial and error. Hopefully not to much on the error. :D

A few words from our fabricator....

Hi guys - Hiya KB - been a while. I've been working full-(spare)-time on the race car getting ready for some road racing, and haven't been on the site in a while. ... . anyways...

I figured it would be easier to post the link to the other thread verses typing. I still haven't got the seat brackets finalized yet, but the blocks are working fine for now. Eventually I'll fab my own and lower th whole deal about 1. 5 inches.

Hope this all helps, and I hope the link works. Computers and I are sometimes mutually exclusive!

I might be interested in your old seats and center console.

My 93 is a work in progress. Got it for only 5K but for that price it has some issues.

One being if you hit a bump the old seats have no padding and that kind of smarts.

let me know.

:D

Thanks, will keep this in mind however do not want to commit to anything until I have these 2000 seats mounted and am comfortable with them.

Please PM me and we discuss the details.

Regards,

Eric

2000 seats installed!

Just finished mounting them and first indications are good however, they do sit higher.

Here's what I did, I completely removed the frame assembly of the new seats to the point where each seat and slider assembly were independent. I then removed my old buckets and fab'd up a way to mount the seats (2000 year) to the old bucket pedastals - even to the passenger slide tilt.

What I wound up with is now the passenger slides but it also tilts forward. The new seats are little wider and taller however, I think I've come up with a way to lower them a 1/4" more.

The center seat will wind up being fixed once I figure the brackets out.

That will come later.

Thanks TDR!:D
