2nd Gen shortbed same size as 3rd Gen?

I'm looking to put a canopy (Bed cap, topper, whatever you wanna call it) on my 04 shortbed and was wondering if a canopy off of a 2nd generation shortbed would fit? How about shortbed fords and cheby's?

The 3rd gens are 3" shorter, and the dimensions and taper are different .
