The last two weekends I've been de-badging my truck completely. The method I used was fishing line to saw the badges off, and then I tried a few things to get the foam tape off. On the tailgate, I tried the solvent (citrus, WD-40, and others) and scrape method. It did work eventually, and the tailgate looks pretty decent. There are some minor scuffs that I need to buff out though. It took all day just to do the tailgate though, and I wanted a better way to do the doors and fenders. So I ordered a vinyl eraser pad from Eastwood, and that worked awesome. Put it in a power drill at about 1000-1500 rpms and it worked extremely well. I did the rest of the job in less than an hour taking my time. Search for "vinyl eraser" at www.eastwoodco.com to see what I used.
So, now that my truck was entirely debadged, I could apply the 2001 Sport badges I bought from the dealer. There's a finished picture below. I tried to take a close up picture, but all I could get was a reflection of me or the house in the paint. It's a lot brighter silver and red than it appears in the picture though. The picture is really terrible.
I love it.
