I just picked up a new 3gen track bar off ebay for $61. Whose bracket is the pick of the litter? The truck came with a brand new Moog and steers quite nice, but I'm planning to swap before I desperately need to.

Also, the 3 gen steering box kit is more than I'd like to spend. What we need is a kit minus the steering box. Just add one 3 gen steering box off ebay or a salvage yard.

What is the big deal on the 3rd gen steering box anyway?? Mine on my 03 has been replaced 3 times by the dealer... I would go with a psc box and dss right of way to keep the slack out... .

Is this correct per instructions of track bar retrofit bracket. "steering wheel re centering adjust the split sleeve on the tie rod adjacent the pitman arm if wheel 2 left shorten if 2 right lengthen tie rod. " would'nt that adjust toe in? my truck is 4x4 3/4 ton 02. or would you adjust the drag link adjuster as mentioned previous reply.

It would be the one that comes off of the pittman arm down and connects to the passenger side. . that is the one you want to adjust... When I put mine in it centered it back up. . Mine was off to the left before the install...

thanks for the info. i messed up looking at the picture in Haynes manual. and reading the general info on alignment. i adjusted the tie rod adjuster tube next to the driverside tire. the instructions should have said drag link adjuster tube.

Your steering box could be a Saginaw box made by GM. Dodge bought them from GM rather than make their own. Excellent box except they come in different ratios. There are no markings on the outside to indicate which ratio it is. Mine was 4&1/4 turns lock to lock. I replaced it with a 3 turn box and that cured the wandering problem. If you buy a replacement box turn the input shaft and count the turns so you will know if it is the right one. The 4&1/4 is for high profile vehicles so in an accident avoidance maneuver you won't roll it over. Obviously the assembly line workers did not know about the different ratios. The Dealers don't know and the Alignment shops don't know. A Master Mechanic working for Dodge did not know. My Ram is a 98 12v Q-Cab 2 wheel and it was no fun to drive before the switch to the 3 turn. Questions, e-mail me -- email address removed --

It is also identical to the unit that as far as I know Solid Steel Industries designed and sold first and that others have apparently copied and sell for a bit less.
