A guy at work has a 02 auto and the truck had a puddle (ocean) of trans fluid under it with the under carriage completely covered. After crawling under the truck he started it and put it in neutral. Fluid poured out of the front line where it abruptly makes a 90 to go to the cooler on the engine. This line had sort of a wave in it at the middle of the bend on the inside. The line rupture happened at this point and the line was not a clean mandrel type bend. The truck is still under warranty and was towed to the dealer. I have yet to check if mine has this same bump in the line but if it does I guess I will have to carry a spare line with me to. His particular truck only has about 16k on it. Just a warning that you may want to check the front line for this defect before you get stranded with the same cause.

Sounds like it was the outlet line from the transmission to the heat exchanger below the turbo, right? If he doesn't already have a transmission temp gauge and wants to install one, now is a great time. Have him get the line for a '95 truck that has a port for a sender.

The DC p/n for the cooler line is 5011244AA. That is what I have on mine for that reason. Have to make sure the check valve is removed from the male end of the rubber hose.

I have the 95 line also. I did go to the garage and look at the stock line that I replaced and it did have the same crushed section that ruptured on his. He may get the 95 line after the Dealer repairs his current condition but at least it will be documented that the line ruptured. The line blew somewhere during a 7 mile trip. Maybe with this problem documented if the trans. acts up later on he may be covered.
