Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 2nd generation v/s 3rd generation

can anyone tell me why the 3rd generation trucks are so much louder out the exxhaust than the 2nd ? the reason i ask is because i have an 01 i had the original exhaust straight piped and now have a 4" turbo back with a straight through muffler and its kinda loud i guess but my brother has an 04 with the factory exhaust straight pipe no muffler and his is so loud when he gets into it it feels like its rattling my teeth. its not only his ive heard a couple others taking off at stop lights that are just as loud or louder. just curious if anyone has an answer ?

can't tell ya why the 3rd gen is louder but i' think the 2nd gen. even though it's not as loud sounds 200% better and more like a 5. 9 should sound
