2oo1 low power steering assist solved

I have had low power assist on my o1 since i bought little over a year ago. I also had the terrible wander like most all of these trucks have! So i set out on a mission to fix these problems. Purchased new steering box(4. 25 turn) :( rebuilt pump, and lukes link for track bar. other steering tie rods nice and tight. I also machined a brass bushing for the pitman arm shaft, where they stuff a very cheesy rubber seal in. The bushing gives more bearing surface plus i counterbored it to accept a press in wiper seal. I got all the new parts on 2 weeks ago. WOW! what a difference in handling, actually have tight steering! BUT STILL when i sit still and and turn the wheel it goes 3/4 of a turn and stops. This is even worse with new pump! So i started reading back a couple pages and found guys dealing with same thing. they said about shimming up the light spring in the flow dividing spool in the pump for more pressure. I did everything they talked about and it DID NOT HELP AT ALL! I rebuild hyd. pumps for a living So i set out to SOLVE this problem. I got my flowmeter from work and modified some metric fittings to get it inline and actually see how much pressure it takes to steer on a rough surface. dodge press. spec is 1550psi and 3. 5 gpm. So i got it hooked up and the pressure went to 1600psi and steering stalled. It obviously needs more pressure!! Shiimming the light spring is wrong!! You need to shim the heavy spring inside the spool. I added a 1/8 by 1/4 . 030 thick washer to the little spring stem. My pressure came up to 1850psi and steering assist problem SOLVED Oo.

I had this problem and ordered a PSC pump with higher pressure and hydraulic ram stabilizer because I was going to put the 19. 5" wheels on and figured my problem would multiply tremendously.

Low and behold I put the 19. 5's on and haven't had a problem one. I'm assuming it's because of the higher tire pressure and harder rubber compound sliding on the pavement easier . I still have the PSC system I paid over $800 for sitting in the box in the garage :{
