These are the blocks I was talking about. My chains cover both wheels so just a plain block would not work.



Willie makes a good point about low range. Reverse gear with the manual is way to fast for backing.

We got 4-6 inches on two different occasions this past winter, and I didn't use the 4x4 until I got to a hill that had a wrecked SUV I had to get around.

On the other hand, it has been in 4x4 countless times to get me out of muddy race track parking areas,the family farm,wet campgrounds, etc. I can't imagine not having it, and snow is the least of my worries...
 
snow in 2wd

I have a 97 cab/chassis 2wd and it really sucks in the snow. it also has an 11 foot flat bed. to much power and not enough weight.
