I have a 92 auto extended cab 4x4. I'm looking for a getrag truck. Am I rolling the dice with a 2wd? I hear the first gen front ends can't handle the weight of the Cummins.

No The 2wd work fine on the road. The 4wd ride terrible. The trans is the weak link, both auto and stick. David

If you want everything to swap to a Getrag send me a PM I have a Truck that I am parting out with a complete set/up available

Keep a close eye on the ball joints in the front end, check and lube them on a regular base, I had a lower ball joint separate going down the road

I bought a new '92 CTD D350 (rear wheel drive) Club Cab dually with an automatic transmission and drove it for over 100K trouble free miles towing a medium size 29-ft fifth wheel trailer all over the lower 48. The only modification I did other than a fifth wheel hitch was install a Horton fan clutch. The front springs were beginning to sag from the weight of the mighty Cummins and if I had kept the truck instead of trading for a new '97 CTD dually, I would have replaced the front springs and the ball joints as preventative maintenance.
