I just installed Bob Verhoef's 2WD low kit on my 99 5 speed. Now when I want to maneuver my trailers in tight spaces I drop into 4WD Low but I keep the front axle disengaged by flipping a switch. I utilize the extra 2. 73 gearing to slow the truck but do not have to worry about hard pavement and the wrenching effect of being in four wheel drive.
Verhoef's kit consists of quality parts, comes with excellent instructions, and takes about 2 hours to do the installation assuming you proceed very slowly and carefully like me.
I did run into an installation problem and after several phone calls back and forth it was easily resolved. Bob was readily available and quite knowledgeable and cooperative. Thus he gets my recommendation. He can be reached at -- email address removed --
