2wd vs. 4wd auto trannies

Simple question...



Will a transmission from a 2wd fit into a 4wd 1st gen?

Yes and no. The main case, TC, etc is the same, but, the OD section is different and you have to have the correct OD section to bolt up the t-case. You cannot just swap the trannys between the two but you can mix and match to get things to work.

you can use the front half from the 2 wheeler and switch overdrive units to keep the 4x4 assuming the overdrive unit still works? its fairly easy.
