On a 2wd what width wheel with what backspacing can someone run without major rubbing issues.

In a 20". In an 18".

I'm leaning towards a 20" about 8. 5" wide with 4. 6-4. 7 backspacing.

Would that wheel work?

I know tire size plays a huge part but I'm just kind of fishing for right now.

Yes, I have used the search. However, most of the wheel fitment posts in the 3rd gen forum are about 4wd trucks with tall tires.

Thanks,

Wes

How far does the actual wheel stick out and the actual tire stick out?

Also, what size tire?

Thanks,

Wes

A couple of inches, takes some gettin' used to. Nobody make a wheel with enough backspace

I can have anything made. I just wanted to get some specifics from a few people.

I may just go with an 18x8. 5 up front and a 20x10 in the rear and run a low profile 285-295 wide front with a low profile 315-325 rear and just call it a wash. That way the front doesn't stick out or rub and then I'll have enough meat in the rear to help keep the truck on the road.

Thanks,

Wes

if this was an older car that would work... the ABS sensor wont let this happen without throwing codes. i wanted to see if this was possible so i could run 245-70-19. 5's up front and 265-70-19. 5 in the back. i used my 265 stockers up front and my 315-70-17's in the rear. threw the computer off and tripped the brake light, the abs light and the check engine light...

i didnt check the codes, i just put the stockers back on the truck. i was in a time crunch. a few miles down the road stock and it went back to normal.

Take your wheels off and measure...

Hang a string from the inside edge of the fender and measure the distance to the mounting face of the axle or hub. Do the same with two straightedges for the distance to the inside of the wheel well. The difference is the required offset. Next measure the total distance from the inside of the wheel well to the string hanging from the inside of the fender. That is the maximum width, assuming concern for the body being low enough to come into contact or any legal requriement for covering the wheel.

Think about how much clearance, both inside and outside, that may be needed for sidewall flexing. All the muscle car guys and lowrider folks take these measurements all the time to fit the most tire in the wheel well.

I would think that the higher end wheel/tire shops could measure for you if they thought they could sell you a set.
