But your profile says you were born in 12/20/47 Rusty -----that would make you about 57-1/2 or so years old . Just how many years have you worked in the oil industry or did you just pop out with a silver cresent wrinch in you hand .
My dad worked for Humble Pipe Line (now part of Exxon) when I was born. I was raised in a pipe line station camp, about 150 yards from the engine room. That makes me true oil field trash.

Every summer job I ever held was oil-field related. I went to college on an Exxon (Teagle) as well as an Army ROTC scholarship. I then worked 3. 5 years for an automation system manufacturer before going to work over 31 years ago for my current employer, a manufacturer of engines, compressors, gas turbines, turbochargers and related control and monitoring systems whose products are sold primarily to oil and gas companies.

Does that qualify me as having literally spent my life in this industry?

MIKE ELLIS:Did we really have a choice to buy much anything else? when our government shipped out most of our jobs to China anyway? what else was on our shelves to buy? EVERYTHING is made over there. . so ultimately it stems from the Govnt, NOT the consumer  Of course i'd buy American over China. . when companies like Wal Mart get big , {like Bush wants} we get the shaft because they buy cheap. . and sell us Chinese goods... supply/demand. . we have buried ourselves. :(

I totaly agree with the "we have buried ourselves". In our search for cheaper goods, we have created chinas economy. They have no EPA, their govt. prosecutes americans doing bad things over there yet there has been very little prosecution of chinese people for piracy, intellectual theft, corporate theft. We also have to move corporations over there for the cheaper labor, mininum restrictions on what you can do.

You want an oil refinery in China, pay the right govt. official all is wavied.

You want an oil refinery in CA. Pay state govt, fed govt. epa, sierra club, ect.

Yet we still give them foreign aid.

Sorry for the rant. Just seems to me that if we were willing to pay a little bit more for what we used, wal mart would be hurting and our neighbors would still have that corner store, auto shop, sporting goods store down the street, and we would not have to go to that rotten, spewing, festering sore of wal mart.

I would coutinue, yet I dont think shoe leather has a good taste. :p

I agree with DWeaver, i have only recently started going to walmart on necessity basis only grocery shop period, all other items are either bought at american business and i read the label on back to see where is was made, recently purchased high/low beam for the dodge, made sure it was american company, all the others made in Taiwan

Im not sure how many of you know it but our gov't give and have been giving themselves the cost of living increase since it started, i wouldn't feel so bad about this gas prices if i were getting the cost of living increase that was implemented for the pple but only our damn gov't see's fit that they get it, okay they drive gov't vehicles they don't have a car payment, they eat and live mostly for free in their nice homes paid for by us but still yet they think they deserve the cost of living increase, what a crock!!!. It wasn't the american working man and woman that done us in, it was our wonderful gov't at work.

Uh oh

Well guys, we're in deep s@#% now. Diesel was 2. 57 everywhere yesterday, today 2. 75 was the lowest I saw, 2. 94 being the highest. :--) Too bad my commute to school is too far, or else I'd be on my Honda makin 40+mpg

Man, Katrina is a b****.

Saw it for $3. 289 today, went down the road a mile and bought it for $2. 929

. . and they say none of ours even comes from that area...

It our environmental laws and specialist that have kill every proposed major refinery in the last 30 years. And they don' care they ride there Bicycles to the recycle center. The last was set for Araizona less than 5 years ago, After the envornment compliance the stakeholder pull out at walked away with 1/2 Billion dollars expended.

I work heavy construction, I seen the impact on us, $250,000's a day to shut down a project that to near to eagle's nest 2 mile away for a month during peak consturcion. Or a Summer rain storm in the middle July r and 2-3 million dollar fine and and six week delay. from the forset serice in Northern California. .
