Ride-Rites and SuperGlide?

Gooseneck - good price?

Carried 65 bags of hardwood mulch today from Lowe's. My 2 extra full length leaf springs do a great job.

thats why i went 3500... i would venture to say mine rides a bit softer than yours due to the extra spring rate. the instal looks great though. i love my overloads and air bags.

3500 and overloads

This is something I don't understand. I have looked at 3,500s with the overloads. Unloaded you have a main spring pack that carries the truck. The overloads are about 2. 5-3. 0" from contacting the frame mount. Your truck has to squat that much under load before the overloads come in contact with them. By that time your main springs are already nearly flat and your truck is close to looking squatty. You also get that overload spring slap, slap, slap. Then your truck then carrys your load pretty good.

Why have to install air bags with all these springs?? Most of the time it is to get your squatty truck back up to where it looks good. I think all truck makers could do a better job making springs.

GW I noticed your truck pic shows pulling a trailer. The trailer front jacks are touching the ground. I'll bet your 3500 squats under this load?? Please tell me why a 3500 with overloads needs air bags?

I was thinking about installing some kind of block on the overload purch so the truck don't have to drop that far, but then I relized my 2nd gen 3500 rides level when its on the purches, and it allows me to run an extra 2" clearence between my 5th wheel and truck bed.

I think your best bet would be to add a 1/2" or 3/4" plate under your overload springs to raise them a little. That would make them contact the frame sooner.

Cumminz, that's what I did on the advice of others on this board. I put on some larger bump stops from energy suspension.

I love them. Before my 12k 5th wheel trailer wouldn't let the overloads engage, they would miss by 1/4 to 1/2 inch and when I hit a bump they would slap. Now there is about 1/2 inch unloaded and they don't slap. Trailer rides better and more stable... .

DaveK98, where did you get them? I checked out energy suspension's website but it only list 2nd gen trucks. Are they the same for your 05? Are they rubber that slip over the factory blocks? My 3500 will slap the overload purches towing my new Titanium because its lighter then my old Terry. Sounds like you got the answer!

Towpro,

FYI: Thanks to RedRamRod for this tip/trick.....

No, I completely removed the old bump stops and installed the energy suspension ones. Don't think they are specificly made for this truck but they work. Others on this site have done it as well. They work great. I've towed about 2k miles with my 5th wheel so far and no problems.

This was in the tdr magazine about 3 issues ago.

Put this in the search +bump +stop +9109 and you should find the 9 page thread with pictures. Or https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79645&highlight=bump+stop+9109

I mail ordered them from 4 wheel parts, see below they are part 9109. They were pretty easy to install, did learn one trick. The replacement bump stops have a pretty long threadded bolt and for the rear I cut off a small section maybe 1/2 inch. This allow my rachet to clear the bottom of the bed/frame. Just don't cut off to much. Only had to do this for the 2 rear bump stops.

Any more questions. . Ask away! If you were closer I'd come over and help you put them on.
