A/C Performance About to Change Again?

The Engine DC Needs to Offer in the 1500

I wanna cry. I saw 2. 97 a gal this morning. Thought about topping off but I figured I'd wait till after I got back from the off road races. Get back and it was 3. 35 at the same station.

Its going to be interesting to see how bad some of the small out of town business get hit. I mean I have to fuel up to get to work, but I don't have to go out of town. I'm already taking a third to half as many trips out of town as I used to.

Think about the people that make minimum wage and have to pay this price for fuel and now the naturel gas is going up 79%(in no. CA. ) and the price increase on every thing else to pay for the added fuel cost they wont have any money left to pay rent!

Well, with the way pricing and everything has been going over the last 6 months, I had started making plans to get out of the house I was renting. I am on my last month of rent at 800. 00 a month, my last electric bill was 200 freaking dollars for a warm dark cave. What am I doing? I bought a 29' Travel Trailer (used) and am in the process of moving into it. I've figured up that where I'm currently at, I was spending close to 1200 a month in rent, utilities, etc. there, and with my new setup, I'll be paying 200 a month lot rent and about another 200 a month in various other utilities like electric, cable/internet and storage building rental. That will be a savings of about 800. 00 a month that I can put towards land purchase and eventually build a shop/living quarters on the property.

Morph.

here in maryland it has gone from 2. 79 to 3. 09 now its at 3. 69 its terrible im going on vacation next week hopefully diesel is cheeper in NC it took 120. 00 to fill last night.

Diesel leads pump prices higher

Hits another high-water mark; AAA report says damaged refineries still affecting fuel prices.

October 4, 2005: 7:34 AM EDT

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Prices at the pump edged upwards Tuesday with diesel prices setting another record as some refineries located along the Gulf Coast remain shuttered following hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The travel club AAA reported Tuesday that the average nationwide price for a gallon of diesel climbed a little more than two cents to $3. 152 a gallon from the previous record-setting price of $3. 129 reached Monday.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported similar data Monday, noting that the average price truckers paid for diesel fuel soared 34. 6 cents over the last week to a record $3. 14 a gallon.

The latest average weekly diesel price is up $1. 09 a gallon from a year earlier, according to the EIA's survey of service stations.

Regular unleaded gasoline experienced more modest gains as the nationwide average price increased by less than a penny to $2. 941 a gallon from $2. 938 Monday, according to the travel club AAA's daily fuel report.

Gas prices peaked on Labor Day in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and have seesawed since, falling as low as $2. 755 a gallon Sept. 22. Pump prices have trended upward since then.

A year ago, the average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $1. 926, AAA reported.

After Hurricane Rita slammed into the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast, many Texas refineries went off line, sparking fears of gasoline supply shortages.

As of Monday, a dozen refineries remain closed following the storms, according to Reuters, halting the flow of 1. 3 million barrels of gasoline.

Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said in a news report published Monday that consumers may see at least six months of high gasoline and heating fuel prices until energy production recovers from hurricane damage.

The Bush administration rolled out a conservation campaign that will encourage consumers and businesses to trim energy use as well as gasoline consumption.

Gasoline demand is down 3 percent compared with the same time last year, according to the EIA.

Midgrade and premium gasoline also rose slightly across the country Tuesday. The nationwide average price at the pump for midgrade gasoline rose to $3. 122 from $3. 117 a gallon Monday. Premium gasoline also climbed by less than a penny to $3. 235 a gallon from $3. 231, AAA reported.

AAA's report Monday revealed that Hawaii still has the most expensive gas in the country, with the average cost of regular unleaded at $3. 248. Gas in Alaska was the cheapest, with regular unleaded at $2. 775, on average.

Still, no definitive answer as to 'why?' Do the damaged refineries count for a larger percentage of diesel production? What's the real story? Are they too busy sending all the diesel to China for a higher price? If all things were equal, I would think that the price increase/decrease of gasoline, diesel, and other products should track each other. But I'm not a petrochemical engineer, and I don't play one on TV... .

I left work last night needing to fill up, the light was on. NONE of the stations where I usually fill up had diesel, and the posted prices had gone from the $2. 75 range to $3. 00+. I thought I was going to run out of fuel before I finally found a Citgo that had diesel, was only able to get 3 gallons before the pump shut off.

Drove off into the suburbs and found a convenience store that still had diesel, was able to fill up my tank. I was not a happy camper, quite literally $100 to fill up. Diesel at $3. 39 a gallon! And while I was pumping, a couple of big rigs without trailers pulled up behind me, guess they couldn't find it anywhere either.

Well, I'm glad I kept my 12-valve with the P7100 pump. Next time I need to fill up, I may just head to Home Depot and buy some kerosene. Of course, by then Chanel No. 5 perfume might be cheaper than diesel, and it'd smell so much better coming out the exhaust... . hmm, decisions decisions :(

DO ya suppose we might be experiencing a "reverse boycott", where suppliers cut off/reduce supplies with the idea that once we taste NO available fuel, we be GLAD to pay obscene prices just to stay mobile?

Wouldn't surprise me...
