Gear Swap

Just got off the horn with Randys. To swap from 3. 5's to 4. 10s it's $684 + tax! Another $700 for the labor..... OUCH! About $1400 to make the swap. I'll have to goto the CFO

:-{} when the time is right. I can't see this happening to awefully soon. :{

Swap

Yep... . Thats an option. The installer I have lined up would prefer to install new gears though due to lining up the used gears in the exact same position as they were in, prior to a swap.

If I knew how to do it myself, I would opt for a swap but since I'm relying on someone elses expertise, I need to buy new. I've got time.

Find someone who wants to go the other way and just swap the whole axles. Yeah it is a little work but wouldn't cost a penny other then your labor. Then there is no worrying about lash and what-not. Seems there are many people that want to go from 4:10's to 3:54. I personally would not give up my 4:10's for NUTHIN:) But then I have 35's;)

Any takers in the Seattle area? I've got the 3. 5s front & rear. Non POSI I should add. I would want to do a 99 so all components are the same. I have 130k on the clock. Any interest?

I just went from 3. 54 to 4. 10. If someone wants to pay me $350 plus shipping I will send my ring/pinion with 91657 miles on it plus the carrier (case). To change from a 3. 54 to a 4. 10 you must change the case on a Dana 80, I am not sure if you must change it back to go down. Some of the web content I read said that a 4. 1 case will accomodate a 3. 54 but don't hold that as gospel.

email me if you are interested -- email address removed --

The gears normally cost about $375 and the carrier (case) about the same.
