I have a 97 5. 9 4x4 with a 4. 10 gear ratio. I added a USGEAR two speed transaxle
so when I not towing I have a good top end and decent fuel mileage. The 4. 10 really
works well when towing 12,000 pds of trailer. I can stay with the best of them on the
road with this configuration. When pulling a long grade, I can shift from the low range
which I normally tow in to the High range when speed drops down to about 55mph,
(1700) rpm and go into lower gear and go on up to 65 before shifting back to high gear. I forgot to mention I have an automatic trans. With this arrrangement, I have
left many fords and chev's behind on the hills.
