I own a 93 w250 4x4 cummins that I have been very happy with over the years . My son wants to buy my truck so I have been looking at the 05's. I like to off road in baja and western united states and would like to run the 315's on stock rims. Iwas wondering if the tires will make the gearing to tall with the 3. 73's ,or if I should go for the 4. 10's. If you do the math the 315 /4. 10 combo is pretty darn close to stock gearing which is what Iwould like for all around towing and milage. Does anybody have any input or expieriences out there?

With the big torque of the Cummins you wouldn't have any trouble at all running 315s with 3. 73 gears. I have 3. 73's and will eventually go to 315s. But, if you know for sure that you're going to put 315s on soon after getting the truck, then I'd go ahead and get the 4. 10s.

I have the 4. 10s with the 315, and I didn't lose any of the SOTP feel. It's a lot like stock tires with 3. 73s.

I had 373 gears in my truck when I bought it with 315 BFG It was alright but I tow a 35ft. toy hauler so I switch to 410 gears Much better now I really like the 410 gears loaded are empty, but I also have a Automatic. WILDMAN
